On March 23, 2017, PUBG Mobile made its entry into the mobile gaming scenes and has globally dominated the mobile market ever since. The battle royale craze along with the countless number of global esports tournaments offered in PUBG Mobile made the game quickly become one of the top 5 most played mobile games. However, two years later on October 1, 2019, Call of Duty Mobile was released. This led to COD Mobile becoming the main competitor to PUBG Mobile and since then there’s always has been a tough fight between these two popular games – PUBG Mobile vs Call of Duty Mobile. So, which game should you be investing your time into? We are going in-depth to find every similarity and difference between the two games so that you can decide which one should you choose to play.
PUBG Mobile vs Call of Duty Mobile: All about Gameplay
The difference in gameplay between the two games is probably the biggest factor in which game you choose to play. Both of the games have first-person and third-person modes available, but there are many mechanics that are vastly different. Before entering a match, Call of Duty Mobile allows you to choose a class with a special ability, whereas PUBG Mobile
throws you straight into the action to loot and find all of your supplies without any equipment pre-game.
Both games have the battle royale basics, such as airdrops, a variety of vehicles, and a deadly shrinking border. Nevertheless, it seems as if Call of Duty Mobile has everything PUBG Mobile has – and more. If you are playing Call of Duty Mobile, feel free to take advantage of the UAVs or drones to find enemy players and blow them up with sticky grenades and rocket launchers. All of these weapons and features greatly increase the variety of combat in the game, making sure all battles play out differently. The fact that no battle is the same in Call of Duty Mobile ensures that the game won’t become stale.
Another difference between the two games is the pace of gameplay. PUBG Mobile is a much slower-paced game than COD Mobile. PUBG Mobile players might encounter other teams when they land but for the most part, there won’t be much action until the circle starts to shrink.
Call of Duty Mobile, however, has more features that make the game much faster than its rival game. Helicopters and more movement options allow players more ways to get around the map. This increases the number of enemies you’re likely to run into. At times, PUBG Mobile games can last double the time that a Call of Duty Mobile game would take.
So, in terms of gameplay, we can say that COD Mobile is definitely the winner in PUBG Mobile vs Call of Duty Mobile due to more combat options and a faster-placed playstyle.
Customisation is the key
PUBG Mobile does not have much advantage over Call of Duty Mobile in terms of player customization. The number of skins and customization a player has when playing PUBG Mobile is a great factor in which game you choose to play. PUBG Mobile doesn’t only have player skins though.
You can also get skins for your weapons, vehicles, or even your parachute in order to stand out from the crowd. And it’s not like every weapon or vehicle only has a few skins to choose from. There is a great variety of skins for every player to choose from.
COD Mobile, on the other hand, keeps it much more realistic. You won’t be seeing any whacky skins like you would in PUBG Mobile. Instead, you’ll always need to look like an elite mercenary. You would also get skins for your weapons, vehicles, or even your parachute, like PUBG. While Call of Duty Mobile does have some skins to choose from, they don’t vary in looks much. Moreover, all they try to keep is their realistic soldier feel.
Definitely, PUBG Mobile and COD Mobile stand on the same level when it comes to customization.
Graphics proves to be a point
The difference in graphics between PUBG Mobile and COD Mobile is mainly caused by the engine they are made with. The Unity Engine is used to power Call of Duty Mobile, but PUBG Mobile is powered by Unreal Engine. Unreal Engine is known for more realistic graphics, so PUBG Mobile has that realistic feeling.
Call of Duty Mobile may not look as realistic, but it does have it’s own vibrant feel. The graphics in Call of Duty: Mobile really stands out in its own way.
So which game has better graphics? This question is up to the player to answer. Some people prefer a more realistic feel, while others
prefer a more immersive look.
Vehicles can create a difference
PUBG Mobile is definitely behind when it comes to vehicles. PUBG Mobile may have motorbikes, cars, and boats but Call of Duty Mobile has all that and more.
Call of Duty Mobile has the addition of a buggy with a minigun on top. Or if you want to get off the ground, hop in one of the many helicopters laying around the map.
Call of Duty Mobile has more vehicles to use and get across the map with, so this win goes to COD Mobile.
Maps – the variety of places to explore
Call of Duty Mobile is lagging behind in the maps compartment compared to PUBG Mobile. PUBG Mobile has four maps to play on, each with different terrain (desert, tropical, etc.) to get a new feel every time. COD Mobile on the other hand, only has one battle royale map. But COD Mobile has some iconic maps in the game such as Highrise, Meltdown, Rust, etc.
Game modes you can play
So far, we’ve been focusing on the battle royale modes on the two games, where there are about 100 people who parachute onto an island, loot what they can find, and battle it out for survival. However, both of these games have a lot more to offer than just battle royale.
PUBG Mobile has Arena and PlayLab, which contains Team Deathmatch, Domination, Assault, and Payload. PUBG Mobile also features an Arcade. The Arcade has a game mode called War, where 100 players land in a much smaller map, and you don’t have much time to loot. War mode is only for players who are looking for a fast and intense experience.
COD Mobile includes 8 different modes to play in multiplayer, like Team Deathmatch, Free For All, Search & Destroy, and more. COD Mobile also includes a few limited-time modes. Added to this there are common events happening so you always have something new to experience.
PUBG Mobile vs Call of Duty Mobile: Who wins the deathmatch
When Call of Duty Mobile dropped in the mobile market last year, many PUBG Mobile players decided to move to it. There is an obvious reason for this. Call of Duty Mobile is newer and has more features to draw in fans, like the extra weapons and vehicles that were mentioned earlier.
Players who want faster gameplay than PUBG Mobile will find COD Mobile appealing. The game also has many more game modes than PUBG Mobile, which can make sure that players keep coming to play the many different modes featured in the game. It is clear that PUBG Mobile doesn’t have as many features that COD Mobile has to offer.
On the other hand, PUBG Mobile offers very realistic gameplay and players have mixed this game with their emotions since PUBG Mobile promotes socialisation at its core. With much lesser game modes than COD Mobile, PUBG Mobile has been able to keep up with this huge pool playerbase. So it is certainly a matter of fact that the game offers something unique that COD Mobile can never offer.
So finally, it is your choice where you want to put your time. Both are unique in their own ways. Whatever you choose, just make sure to feel the adrenaline rush and enjoy the games!
