2022 Google Indie Games Program (Festival and Accelerator): Eligibility criteria, How to participate, Rewards, and more

When it comes to supporting the gaming industry, nothing can be enough. Keeping in mind the pace at which the industry is growing, growth acceleration programs are definitely the need of the hour. The 2022 Google Indie Games Program is one such program where potential Indie Games studios from selected countries will participate in a 10-week-long accelerator program.

The program is aimed at supporting Indie Games Studios to gain the attention and skills they need and on the other hand bring the best of Google’s programs, products, people, and technology to high-potential indie games. The applications for the 2022 Google Indie Games Program are live for developers to register by 1st July 2022.

2022 Google Indie Games Program will feature both Festival and Accelerator events

Google’s Indie Games Programs(Festival and Accelerator) are designed to give Indie Games Studios access to Google and Industry giants to learn how to build a successful and efficient games company. The program attracts people from countries across the globe, this means that participants will be put in an international community of passionate and skillful game developers who have one goal, which is to become successful and take their business to the next level. 

The Indie Games Festival and Indie Games Accelerator are Google’s two annual events that are designed exclusively for small Indie Games Studios, which will help them grow their game and business. The Indie Games Accelerator is more of an education-based program that teaches Indie Games Studios how to grow their business and game through exclusive training and mentorship by industry experts. On the other hand, the Indie Games Festival is for studios who have already created and launched their game, the festival will give them a chance to bring their game to the spotlight. 

Google Indie Games Accelerator program

The Indie Games Accelerator program, is for Indie developers who have just started their journey and are almost on the verge of launching their game, the program will provide mentorship and education to help build and grow successfully. Added with this, the program will also help participants build a global network of gaming experts where everyone can share ideas and knowledge.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Participants must be 18 years old. 
  • Must be a registered developer on Google Play.
  • Must be the developer of the game that will be submitted for review.
  • You can submit an existing game or a game that you’re planning on launching soon.

Deadline for Application: July 1, 2022

Selected Indie Games studios will take part in a 10-week rigorous acceleration program which will start in September 2022. Studios will be mentored and educated through a series of online masterclasses, talks, and gaming workshops, hosted by experts in the industry.

Rewards

  • The winners will also get featured on Google Play, prizes, and additional promotions such as campaigns worth 100,000 EUR.
  • Placements in GooglePlay.
  • Promotions on Google Play and Android marketing channels.

Google Indie Games Festival

The Indie Games Festival is for those studios who have already built and launched their game, this program gives them a chance to bring their game to the spotlight. Indie Games Festival will be hosting three international competitions for developers from Europe, Japan, and South Korea. The festival jury is filled with gaming experts and Googlers who will select the best Indie games that deserve public attention.

Top Studios who manage to present the best games in the competition will be featured during the finals, which will get them enough exposure in front of industry experts from across the world.
