2K Games announced that they have acquired two new studios, a Spanish creative studio called elite3d and a development studio called Turia Games.
2K Games acquires new studios for game development
2K Games officially announced the acquisition of the Spanish studio elite3d, which is said to be one of the leading creative studios in the world for developing 2D and 3D artwork for video games. Elite3d’s office is located in Valencia, Spain, and will form a second office for 31st Union, another studio also owned by 2K Games. The new office is expected to assist 31st Union in developing an unannounced but highly anticipated AAA title.

The creative studio will also help develop a new publishing location with a focus on the Global Services division. Employees not joining 31st Union will instead join Global Services and assist 2K’s internal team responsible for art, motion capture, visual effects, user research, and much more. They will also help expand the company’s influence around the globe. Additionally, Turia Games, which is said to be co-owned by elite3d and also located in Valencia, were acquired by 2K Games.
The acquisition of elite3d
David Ismailer, President of 2K spoke highly of elite3d remarking that “elite3d had made a significant impact on the gaming industry” and that “the team’s culture fell in lines with their company values”. No doubt these helped make the acquisition of the Spain-based company much smoother. Elite3d was initially founded in the year 2005 in Valencia by Oscar Fererro and Jose Luis Queral.
The price of the merger was not disclosed. However, 31st Union and Global Services have both posted job openings. Interested candidates may apply on their website or 2K jobs.
