Activision Blizzard announced today that it has acquired mobile game studio Digital Legends for an undisclosed sum. Digital Legends have previously developed and created cartoon-style shooter The Respawnables and a more realistic shooter named Afterpulse. As a part of Activision, the studio will focus on an “unannounced new mobile title within the Call Of Duty universe”.

In a statement, Activision’s head of mobile Chris Plummer stated, ”Digital Legends’ tenure developing highly-polished mobile titles is unparalleled,” He also stated that, “More importantly though, our teams already have been collaborating very closely for much of this year. We are building a world-class mobile development roster of talent and teams, and we look forward to what’s to come.”
Activision president Rob Kostich commented, “This is an incredible team of development pros at Digital Legends, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome them to the Activision team. This is a great step forward as we continue to build additional world-class development resources focused on creating exciting and innovative content for our players.”
Digital Legends starts work on the unannounced game
Digital Legends has already started working closely within Activision’s mobile development organization. The unannounced game is currently in development under Activision’s newly established internal studio Solid State, along with Beenox and Activision Shanghai.
Activision’s expansion of world-class development studios continues along with the addition of Digital Legends. They have already established development teams in Austin, Guildford, Krakow, Melbourne, Mexico City, and Toronto.
