Archeland to shut down on March 25, 2026 as Korean and Japan servers officially end service

Another title bites the dust!

Story Highlights
  • Archeland has officially announced a final service termination for March 25, 2026, across KR and JP servers.
  • The decision follows a previous 2024 "EoS reversal" that kept the game without new content for 1.5 years.

Turn-based strategy RPG Archeland has officially announced that it will terminate its service on March 25, 2026, marking the true end of its run. Both the Korean and Japanese servers will be closing this time, leaving little room for hope of another reversal.

Developers admitted Archeland failed to meet expectations despite attempts to revamp the title

In the official notice, the development and operations team explained that despite spending the past year and a half exploring new possibilities and trying to improve the game after last year’s service crisis, the developers mentioned that “results did not meet your expectations”.

For those who remember, the KR server had actually announced an end of service back in July 2024, only to retract the decision a month later. That sudden U-turn surprised many players. However, despite staying online, the game reportedly received no new content updates for around a year and a half.

Interestingly, there was also a closed beta test for a revamped version titled “Archeland RE” in Taiwan in December 2025. From early impressions, the core story and gameplay stayed mostly the same, while balance adjustments and monetization changes were introduced. The Facebook page has been inactive since then.

As of now, there is no clarity on whether this version will ever see a full release or if that project has also been shelved. As of now, Archeland has been removed from stores, and this falls into the category of yet another game that disappears without seeing a global release.

Archeland’s closure adds to a growing list of shutdowns in 2026. In just the first few months of the year, we’ve seen Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2 Classic set for delisting, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile fully sunset, and EA SPORTS FC Tactical, to name a few, going offline.

However, gacha RPGs are taking major hits. Goddess Order, Tsukuyomi: The Divine Hunter, Isekai∞Isekai, and OUTRANKERS ending only months after launch. Oz Re:write was another shutdown this year that didn’t see a global launch.

In my Mobile Gaming Disappointments column, I mentioned how tough 2025 has been for mobile gaming, with so many promising titles never making it to a global launch. Unfortunately, it looks like that trend may be spilling over into 2026 as well, though I’m still hopeful we won’t see a repeat of the same pattern.
