Tencent Games’ Kewlbiverse seems to have shut down in silence after months of inactivity

Disappointing developments!

Story Highlights
  • Kewlbiverse appears to have shut down quietly with no official announcement or statement.
  • The last known activity for the game was its closed beta test in November 2024.

Something interesting has happened around Tencent Games‘ ambitious open-world pet collector RPG, Kewlbiverse, and it isn’t a pleasant one. Kewlbiverse appears to have been shut down, and it did so without any major announcement or farewell message.

Kewlbiverse’s website no longer works, while social channels remain completely inactive

The game’s official website no longer loads, and while its social media accounts still exist, there haven’t been any updates about the game for a long time. It feels less like a proper ending and more like the game simply faded out of sight.

The last major moment of activity for Kewlbiverse goes all the way back to November 2024, when AIDELWEISS, a subsidiary studio of Tencent Games, announced its first closed beta test for Android. The test ran in selected regions, and that was it.

At the time, expectations were high. The game promised exploration, creature collection, base building, battles, farming, and social play, all wrapped in a colourful world filled with over 100 unique creatures known as Faeby.

So, what could have been the reasons? I feel the similarities of the theme with Pokémon, and also having inspiration from Palword, could have made them step back. The Light of Motiram lawsuit and the subsequent settlement with Sony could also have played a role, potentially prompting to step back from ideas that felt too close to existing IPs.

Without overthinking it, it’s also possible that Tencent Games simply chose to focus on projects with stronger potential. There’s another pet-collection MMORPG in Roco Kingdom: World, which is set to release in China on March 26, 2026, and it has already gone through far more testing compared to Kewlbiverse.

Right now, no official statement has been made about the status of Kewlbiverse. We at GamingonPhone have reached out to the team for clarification and will update this story if any official response is shared. Keep an eye on updates.
