Azur Promilia has to be the next big thing in the ARPG genre given how impressive it looked during its first reveal. From the house of Manjuu Games, the developer behind the popular side-scrolling shoot-’em-up title Azur Lane, it’s no surprise that expectations are high. Despite the limited announcements so far, a Reddit user recently speculated that the game could be released by January 25th, 2025. This prediction is based on the game’s approval date in China, and I will explain it to you.
The possibility of Azur Promilia being re-submitted for approval cannot be ruled out
This is the general process that has been followed in China, but I will explain it anyway. The National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA) in China handles the approval process of the games. To release a game in China, developers must obtain a Game Version Number from the NPPA and then it will receive the status as approved.
This is a common process, and every month, we have seen plenty of mobile titles being approved by China, with the recent one being in June, with the approval of Valorant Mobile being one of them. However, this seems to be a Reddit user’s calculation regarding the release of Azur Promilia.
According to the user u/shlrine-azurpromilia, Azur Promilia was approved in China on January 25, 2024, meaning the game must be released by January 25, 2025. It is mentioned that if the game isn’t released within a year of approval, the developer must inform the Ministry of Culture and explain why. If the project is terminated, the Ministry will revoke the approval number.
If in case the latter comes true, Manjuu Games can extend the release date by making significant changes to the game and re-submitting it for approval, which assigns a new approval date. If delayed further, but considering the content is nearly complete, the user predicts the latest release date should be mid-2026.
For any announcements currently, we need to keep an eye on the official website. It might be a wrong guess for now, but hoping this comes true, or may it arrive early. A couple of tests are expected at least, but if the product isn’t ready, I’m not sure the developers will rush the Azur Promilia release.
