Supercell’s Clash of Clans is bringing a new update, and it is set to bring some important changes. In its new blog, the makers are directly addressing many of the frustrations players have been sharing since the introduction of Ranked Mode and Town Hall 18, and this update will look to fix that.
Clash of Clans: Addressing Ranked Mode and the TH18 meta
Changes to Ranked Mode
Ranked Mode was meant to give players more freedom in how and when they play, but Supercell admitted that the balance has not worked well for everyone. Many players have complained about how progression in the top leagues has felt slow and demanding compared to how it was.

To address this, several changes are planned for the next update. A bug that incorrectly shows demotion warnings will be fixed, so players are no longer scared of dropping leagues when they shouldn’t be. Promotion and demotion percentages will also be adjusted in certain leagues to help progression feel less stagnant.
Supercell is also reducing the number of required battles in the highest leagues. The goal here is to reduce burnout, especially for players who feel forced to grind attacks every week just to maintain their rank. Difficulty modifiers in Ranked Mode will also be adjusted based on community feedback.
Addressing the TH18 meta
In the same blog, Supercell also addressed the current meta at Town Hall 18. They mentioned that a lot of popular Town Hall 17 strategies no longer work the same way, mainly because the Town Hall is no longer a defensive building and because some troops are missing new levels.

The developers made it clear that strategies will change as new content should feel “exciting and powerful”. That said, they admitted the jump to Town Hall 18 could have been smoother, and player feedback is already influencing how future Town Halls are handled.
Supercell ended the blog on a nice note that these updates are part of an ongoing effort to make Clash fun for all types of players. Hence, whatever changes that happen will not be permanent, and we can see more frequent updates to make the game even more exciting.
