New Battle Modes: Farming and Ranked
Multiplayer is undergoing one of its biggest shakeups ever, splitting into two new modes: Battle and Ranked Battle. Battle Attacks will become the default farming mode, where you can freely choose opponents, farm resources, and skip bases without worrying about trophies.

Ranked Battles, on the other hand, are trophy-focused. With limited daily attacks and no option to skip, this mode is designed for competitive pushes. Trophies will now only be tied to Ranked Battles, giving players more control over how they want to play without being forced into Legends League too early.
When you enter Ranked Mode, you will need to sign up for the current week’s tournament. During sign-up, you will set up your defensive base layout (from any saved design) and select your defensive Clan Castle troops. Three modifiers are here apart from esports: Expert, Master, and Legend.
These are saved as a snapshot, meaning the troops do not actually leave your barracks or camps, but they will defend automatically throughout the week. Once you are in, you will be placed into a group of 100 players from the same League tier.

All players in the group will compete across the week for promotion, demotion, or retention based on their performance. The best part? You can attack whenever you want. There is no daily limit, and your results contribute to your standing until the weekly reset.
How Battles and Trophies Work
Every Ranked battle has a maximum potential of 40 Trophies to earn, but how many you actually get depends on your attack result.
- 3-Star victory: Full 40 trophies
- 2-Star victory: 16 to 32 trophies depending on destruction percentage
- 1-Star victory: 5 to 15 trophies depending on damage dealt
- 0-Star attack: Up to 4 trophies based on destruction (at least 10% to earn one)
Defenses also play a crucial role. If your opponent fails to 3-star your base, you will gain the difference between their score and 40 trophies. You can complete your attacks anytime during the week, and if you do not finish them, your ranking is based on what you have completed.
Weekly League Tournaments and Matchmaking
Ranked battles run on a weekly tournament cycle. Here is how the week flows:
- Sign-up Period: Monday 5 AM to Friday 5 AM UTC
- Battling Period: Tuesday 5 AM to the following Monday 5 AM UTC
- Reset Period: Monday 5 AM to Tuesday 5 AM UTC

During the sign-up window, you can join manually or enable Auto Sign-Up, ensuring you never miss a tournament. Once signed up, your base is locked in for that week, and you will be matched into your tournament group.
The New League Structure and Floors
With this system, Clash introduces a total of 34 leagues, 33 divisions below the top-tier Legend League.
Each League represents a competitive step up, and every Town Hall level now has a League Floor, which prevents players from dropping too low once they have achieved that milestone.

For example, a Town Hall 17 player cannot fall below a certain “Electro Titan” tier. This ensures fair matchmaking and keeps progression balanced. When you upgrade your Town Hall, you are automatically promoted to the floor league for that TH level in your next tournament.
Players who skip a week are not penalized immediately, but after one week of inactivity, League Decay begins, dropping one league per missed week until you hit your floor.
Star Bonus, League Bonus, and Loot Adjustments
Both Battle Mode and Ranked Mode now contribute to your Star Bonus, which includes resources and Starry Ore depending on your League. The League Bonus system has been fine-tuned too, you will now earn loot bonuses proportionate to your battle success.
For example, reaching 50% destruction grants 80% of your total loot bonus, with the rest scaling upward based on damage. All loot from Ranked battles comes from the snapshot system, meaning resources are generated by the game economy rather than being taken from real bases.
New League Achievements and Rewards
To celebrate this new structure, Supercell has introduced a full lineup of new League achievements.
The old League All-Star challenge is being retired, but the replacements, League Follower, Enthusiast, Superfan, Fanatic, and Lunatic, offer milestone rewards for reaching higher League ranks.

Each milestone gives Gems and XP, and players reaching the top League can earn up to 3,600 Gems total, more than ever before.
Magic Shield replaces the old Shield and Guard systems
The biggest highlight of the October update is the Magic Shield, a brand-new system that replaces both the Village Guard and the traditional Shield. This lets players attack freely without worrying about losing shield time.
Here’s how it works:
- When 30% or more of your available loot is stolen during a defense, you’ll automatically get an 8-hour Magic Shield.
- You can attack freely while protected; the shield doesn’t reduce in duration when you go on offense.
- If someone attacks you while you’re shielded, they’ll face a shadow version of your base, so you won’t actually lose any loot.
- The Magic Shield applies only to Battle mode, not Ranked mode, where the current Legend Shield still functions normally.
You can also purchase Magic Shields from the shop:
- 1 Day Shield: 100 Gems (4-day cooldown)
- 2 Day Shield: 150 Gems (7-day cooldown)
- 1 Week Shield: 250 Gems (35-day cooldown)
However, returning players who’ve been away for 35 days or more will be welcomed back with a 48-hour Magic Shield.
Revenge System rework
Let’s be honest, the Revenge button had become something of a meme among players. But with this update, Supercell has completely reworked it, and it finally works as intended.
Here’s what’s new:
- If an attacker takes 30% or more of your loot, you can revenge them within 12 hours.
- Every revenge attack uses a shadow base, meaning you can always strike back, even if they’re shielded or online.
- You’ll always be able to loot back at least what you lost, and possibly more if their loot is higher.
- Revenge battles now count toward your Star Bonus, League Bonus, and even event progress.
Unified Town Hall Upgrades
One of the biggest quality-of-life changes is the removal of star upgrade levels for Town Halls 12 to 15, along with Town Hall 17. Instead of going through multiple star upgrades, these Town Halls will now have just one clear upgrade level, similar to how Town Hall 16 already works.

For players, this means no more extra grind and fewer resources spent on the same building. If you were in the middle of upgrading, the process will be cancelled, but your Town Hall weapon will instantly match the stats of a fully maxed version.
Spring Trap Rework
Spring Traps are getting a big overhaul. Instead of flinging multiple small troops, they will now focus on a single target, specifically, the troop with the highest housing space in range. If the troop’s housing space is larger than the trap’s capacity, it will take heavy damage.
If this damage destroys the troop, it will be ejected. If the troop survives, it will be thrown vertically. Seven new levels are being introduced for Spring Traps, starting from Town Hall 11 up to level 12. Builder Base is also included in this rework, with Spring Traps getting a new level there, too.
Hard Mode is now Tournament Mode
The mode previously known as Hard Mode has officially been renamed to Tournament Mode, and it comes with a few balance changes. Tournament Mode will still represent the toughest environment in Clash of Clans.
To make defenses more challenging, all defensive buildings now deal 20% more DPS, and defending Heroes receive a 20% boost to both DPS and HP. On the other hand, attacking Heroes face a handicap, having their damage and HP reduced by 10%.
Equipment has also been adjusted to keep the balance fair. Common Equipment now caps 3 levels lower (maximum level 15), and Epic Equipment caps 6 levels lower (maximum level 21).
Loot System Overhaul and Loot Cart Adjustments
The loot system now includes a bonus for attacking stronger opponents. The existing penalty for attacking lower Town Hall levels remains unchanged. You gain extra resources when attacking higher Town Hall bases.
The Loot Cart now returns 10% of looted resources, down from 20%. The new rate aligns with the overall loot and economy changes introduced in this update.
Economy and Progression
Upgrade times and costs have been reduced across multiple Town Hall levels. Fifteen Hero levels have been shifted from Town Hall 15 to Town Hall 14: five each for the Barbarian King, Archer Queen, and Grand Warden.
Balance Changes
A set of balance adjustments have been applied across troops, equipment, and defenses.
- Diggy now stuns all targets, including Heroes and Clan Castle troops.
- The Heroic Torch Equipment speed boost now applies to the Grand Warden.
- The Grand Warden is less likely to follow Sneezy’s Boogers, improving his movement targeting.
- The Defensive Furnace now deals slightly less damage, preventing a single Firemite from destroying a max-level Healer.
