- Discord officially rolls out Orbs as a reward currency through in-app Quests for all users.
- Users can earn Orbs by completing tasks like playing games or watching trailers on Discord.
- Orbs cannot be purchased or gifted and are only earned through engagement with the app.
Discord has fully launched its new virtual rewards system, Orbs, giving users a new way to earn perks like Nitro without spending real money. After testing the feature with a small group earlier this year, the rollout is now global.
Orbs can be exchanged in the Shop for perks like Nitro credits and Discord profile items
Orbs are earned by completing Quests, small tasks such as trying games, watching trailers, or using Discord features, and can be spent in the Rewards Shop. Once you collect enough Orbs, you can claim rewards including three-day Nitro subscriptions.

Other exclusive items include profile badges, decorations, and visual effects. They never expire, but they’re locked to your account and can’t be moved to another. To start, you can find available Quests in the Discover tab or from the pop-up Quest Bar in the app.
Orbs are meant to reward engagement, not spending. They are tied to your Discord account, so you can’t buy or gift them, and they can’t be traded or converted into money, partner-branded items, or recurring Nitro plans. Simply put, they have no real-world monetary value.
For now, the system is only available on desktop and browser versions, with no mobile support yet. One of the best benefits surely is the option to get Nitro for free. Nitro, Discord’s premium service, includes benefits like HD streaming, custom emojis, and bigger upload limits.

This update follows Discord’s recent server limit increase this July, where the max members allowed per server jumped from 500,000 to 2.5 million. For now, the rollout is worldwide, so enjoy your share of orbs!
