Facebook Gaming App to shut down for both Android and iOS from October 2022

The company launched the Facebook Gaming App last April!

Facebook Gaming App is to shut down on October 28 this year. The app won’t be available for both Android and iOS devices. Since the launch of the Facebook Gaming App last April, the effort to make a separate gaming platform under Facebook was quite a step taken. However, Facebook finally decided to not continue its Gaming App.

On a recent Tweet by streamer Gothalion, it is seen that Facebook will continue the app till 28 October. After that, it will no longer be available. All the features will be transferred to the Facebook app. Before the closing, players can download their app search data from the gaming app itself.

Meta is trying to get everything under one app, Facebook

The reason behind Facebook’s decision is still unclear though. However, the recent downturn made Facebook think of a more optimal way to continue everything it has for the community and people. On the company’s second-quarter earnings call in July, CEO Mark Zuckerberg might have hinted at this.

“We seem to have entered an economic downturn that will have a broad impact on the digital advertising business. It’s always hard to predict how deep or how long these cycles will be, but I’d say that the situation seems worse than it did a quarter ago.”

Besides, instead of scrapping the whole Facebook Gaming platform, the company has decided to move gaming app search data to the Facebook app. It looks like they’re trying to unify almost everything possible to do so under one app. Facebook Gaming App was a place where streamers and fans could join and have fun together. It was not a conventional streaming platform and launched as a part of the Facebook tab.
