  • Wriothesley is a 5-Star Cryo Catalyst character and is a DPS unit where he dishes out fast normal attacks
  • The weapon banner is worth pulling as Furina's signature weapon can be used on alot of other characters besides Furina

Genshin Impact Version 5.4 Phase 2 banners will go live from the 4th of March, 2025 till the 25th of March, 2025. The Version 5.4 Phase 2 banners will feature two re-run 5-star characters in a dual banner.

Genshin Impact Version 5.4 Phase 2 First character banner: Tempestuous Destiny

Wriothesley is a Cryo on-field DPS who specializes in sustained melee Cryo damage and HP-draining mechanics. His kit revolves around his Chilling Penalty state, which enhances his Normal and Charged Attacks while gradually draining his HP.

His Elemental Skill, Icefang Rush, lets him execute a quick gap-closer, restoring some HP when used properly. His Elemental Burst, Darkgold Wolfbite, delivers a strong Cryo AoE strike, providing instant healing while dealing significant burst damage.

Wriothesley excels in Cryo-centric teams, particularly Melt, Freeze, and Mono-Cryo compositions. However, he requires consistent healing to maintain his HP-draining buffs, making dedicated healers like Sigewinne or Furina ideal partners.

Genshin Impact Version 5.4 Phase 2 Second character banner: Chanson of Many Waters

Furina is a Hydro off-field DPS and buffer who excels in consistent Hydro application and team-wide buffs. Her kit revolves around managing her Opera Epiclese state, which shifts between Ousia and Pneuma modes to adapt to different combat scenarios.

While in Ousia mode, Furina summons Salon Members that apply Hydro and deal coordinated attacks. In Pneuma mode, she provides team-wide healing while still contributing minor damage. Furina’s unique party-wide buffs scale is based on the HP fluctuations of her teammates, making her highly effective in HP-loss-dependent teams.

She excels in Hydro reaction-based teams, enabling Vaporize, Bloom, and Hyperbloom compositions. However, her damage output and buff potential are highly reliant on the team’s ability to lose and regain HP efficiently.

While Furina provides strong sustained Hydro application, her lack of personal burst damage and dependence on specific team setups make her a more situational support rather than a standalone DPS. Nonetheless, she remains a powerful five-star Hydro unit that can significantly boost team performance when built correctly.

Why you should go for Wriothesley or Furina in Genshin Impact Version 5.4

If you enjoy off-field Hydro application, team-wide buffs, and a versatile support/DPS hybrid, Furina is a strong choice. As a Hydro buffer, she excels in teams that benefit from HP fluctuation mechanics, enhancing damage based on how much HP her team loses and regains.

She provides consistent Hydro application, enabling powerful Vaporize, Bloom, and Hyperbloom teams, but requires careful team-building to maximize her buffing potential. Furina shines best in Neuvillette, Wriothesley, and Bond of Life teams, but her effectiveness depends on managing HP loss efficiently.

She’s an excellent pick for players who want a Hydro unit that buffs the entire team while providing off-field damage and healing. However, she requires specific setups and competes with units like Xingqiu and Yelan in terms of Hydro application, although she offers far more team-wide utility. On the other hand, Wriothesley is a Cryo on-field DPS who brings fast melee attacks, self-sustain, and high Cryo damage potential.

His Chilling Penalty state enhances his Normal and Charged Attacks, allowing him to deal consistent Cryo damage while draining his HP. He thrives in Melt, Freeze, and Mono Cryo teams, where he can take full advantage of attack speed buffs and healing supports. Wriothesley fits best with Furina, Sigewinne, or other healers to balance his HP drain.

However, he faces competition from Ayaka and Ganyu, who offer stronger burst damage in Freeze teams. While he excels in sustained Cryo DPS, his reliance on Normal Attacks makes him less effective in teams that require Skill-based reactions. If I had to choose, Furina offers better long-term utility due to her strong buffs, healing, and Hydro application, making her a safer investment for most players.

However, if you prefer fast-paced melee combat and sustained Cryo DPS, Wriothesley is a great pick, especially for Melt or Freeze teams. Ultimately, your decision depends on whether you prefer team-wide support with strong Hydro synergy or a self-sustaining Cryo Hypercarry.
