Take-Two’s Fiscal reports have now revealed some major information on the release of the remastered versions of the games from the original GTA Trilogy. Although Grand Theft Auto: The Definitive Edition was set to release sometime in the first half of the year after the PC and console versions it seems like those playing on their Android and iOS devices will have to stick to the older 10th-anniversary editions for a little longer as the mobile release has been pushed to sometime in 2023.

In case you’ve missed out on all the talk about these “Definitive Versions” then the summary goes like this. The original Grand Theft Auto Trilogy, which consisted of GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas, was being remastered for current-gen platforms. And although their arrival on mobile was more of a rumor, Rockstar did confirm it.
This slight delay could be for a multiplicity of reasons. Porting games to mobile and optimizing them for such a large group of devices does take time. Also, when the ports came out, they had a bunch of issues and were criticized for the way they handled these games.
It could be possible that they’re more focused on ironing out these issues. And not just for the mobile release but across all platforms and that’s taking time.
Also in the report, Take-Two’s management says “Our pipeline for the year continues to look very strong, and we are excited to expand significantly our mobile presence with a best-in-class platform.” Now that we have a more solid time frame, there will hopefully be no more delays in the release of Grand Theft Auto: The Definitive Edition. We can look forward to playing the Definitive editions soon.
