- New Unity engine update requirements forced the removal of Grimlight from the app stores.
- Due to the lack of active devs, the required updates can’t be implemented, so this situation unavoidable.
- You can still access the game if it’s already installed or download the APK later on.
Eight Studio has announced that the standalone offline version of Grimlight will soon be delisted from both the Google Play Store and App Store on May 5, 2026. This beloved RPG was first launched in July 2022, and it officially shut down in 2024, before going live as this standalone version in June 2025.
Another setback for fans, as even the offline version is going away
So, if you’re not aware, Grimlight is a hero-collector fairy tale RPG in the world of Phantasia. Here, you play as the Dreamer, the only one capable of stopping the Dreamless that is eroding the world. By summoning heroes like Alice, Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, and more, you can battle the Dreamless.
Unfortunately, the Grimlight Team has revealed via X(Twitter) that the game will be delisted on May 5, 2026, stating, “Due to an update requirement for our game engine, Grimlight will be removed from the Google Play and App stores.“
You can still enjoy Grimlight by downloading now or rely on APK options
According to the devs, they need to update both Google Play and App Store apps to newer versions of the Unity engine. And, without these updates, apps will no longer stay on the platforms. The sad part is that, as the mods revealed, “Due to the lack of a dev team for the game, the proper updates can’t be made.”
Now, there’s still a silver lining if you already have the game installed, as you can continue to enjoy it without any issues. As the mods confirmed on Reddit, your account data should remain unaffected, so everything will function well. So, I suggest you download it now or you can get the APK from a reliable source later on.
