Hi-Rez Studios have announced Rogue Company, the fairly popular third-person multiplayer shooter game, is coming to mobile in the coming months. As per the announcement on Twitter, the game will be available for Open Beta for players who sign in using the Verizon network along with an exclusive in-game reward.
Rogue Company: A fairly popular title
Rogue Company was first released on October 1, 2020, for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. This was followed up by releases for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The game is a free-to-play title made on Unreal Engine 4 and is available exclusively on the Epic Games store for PC users.
Unlike most multiplayer games today, Rogue Company is played from a third-person perspective. The game features several game modes. These include Extraction, Demolition, and Strikeout which are all 4v4 objective-based game modes. Wingman is a 2v2 based game mode similar to Strikeout. The operators of the game are formally called “Rogues” and the game features 20 rogues. More rogues are expected to be added to the game in future updates.
A mobile port could bring outreach
Although the game has garnered a significant following on PC and console, it still doesn’t exactly compete with the likes of other popular titles such as Fortnite or Valorant. The mobile version may also be a push for the game to improve its outreach and attract new players.
The game isn’t particularly graphically demanding even on PC so one can expect the mobile version of the game to be similar or, at the very least, slightly less impressive graphically. Although details are currently scarce, one can expect the gameplay and the features on mobile to not differ too much from the PC or console versions.
