The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War is an officially licensed war-strategy game being worked on by NetEase that is scheduled for a release on the 23rd of this month after the initial announcement back in June 2020. It is based on the iconic trilogy by the late author J.R.R Tolkien that has millions of fans worldwide.
An authentic Lord of the Rings experience by NetEase
The game is set before the narrative of the first book, Fellowship of the Ring, during Middle Earth’s Third Age and the fate of Middle Earth is in the hands of the players. They will have to pledge allegiance to one of the factions and occupy Dol Guldur to become the victor.
Among other things, players will have to build well-fortified settlements they can defend, put together a strong army, expand the territory under their faction, explore and do a lot more.
The game will have multiple seasons. As mentioned before, the game is officially licensed from Warner Brothers Studios, so players can expect an authentic Lord of the Rings experience with a whole bunch of fan-favorite characters from the series. More information regarding factions and other such features can be explored at the official website for the game.
Lord of the Rings: Rise to War: What to expect
Fans of Tolkien’s trilogy, interestingly, have not taken warmly to the game. Initial reactions suggest an overwhelming disappointment in the gameplay, with certain Redditors calling it “just another Clash of Clans type game”, and how they would much rather prefer to have a Nintendo Switch-like adventure card game based on the series for mobile platforms as well.
The eventual reception of the game by the community, and whether it proves to be a hit or a miss, is something that can be gauged only post-release, which is pretty close. Interested players can pre-register for Lord of the Rings: Rise to War on Android on the Google Play Store or pre-order the game on iOS to be notified of the release of the game and get it as soon as the launch happens.
