After Tencent announced the mobile version of Metal Slug Mobile last year, the incredibly popular franchise has finally released its new card collecting mobile instalment Metal Slug: Commander globally for a beta version on iOS and Android. Players get to experience the unit collecting and deploying gameplay with the return of their favourite characters from the vintage Metal Slug games in this latest title, published as usual, by SNK China.
Metal Slug: Commander gameplay and what to expect
Metal Slug: Commander is a new free-to-play mobile game that entices fans of the Metal Slug series that started all the way back in the mid-90s and new players alike by dipping its toes in the card-collecting genre. The story starts off quite a lot of time after the last space invader war and while temporary peace has been achieved, it can only last so long in the Metal Slug universe. Players play as a commander burdened with the responsibility of protecting humanity.
Fans of Metal Slug will be satisfied knowing all classic elements of the previous Metal Slug games such as cutscenes and music will be preserved in Metal Slug: Commander. The gameplay consists of two-line battles that require strategy and tactics regarding cards and formation to overcome the opponents.
Players can also own and put into battle powerful mechas that immensely help during the fighting. Metal Slug: Commander also boasts a global server for players all over the world to play together. While the combat during battles in this PvE game is all AI, players play an important role in deciding what units to play with and what lineups to choose.
Metal Slug: Commander took to Twitter to announce that the global open beta for the game has started, promising a brand new experience for players. The open beta is available on Google Play Store and App Store.
