Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has a fair share of national professional leagues around the Southeast Asia region, and the very best players from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and other countries will once again be coming together to face each other in the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2021, also known as MSC. With almost 2 years since the last cup, fans of MLBB are dying to know which esports team will come out on top in this tournament.
MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2021
The tournament format will likely follow that of MSC 2019, where 2 teams from each Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) are invited to MSC. Countries that do not have an exclusive pro league will host local qualifiers to determine participants for MSC. Countries that do not have an exclusive pro league will host local qualifiers to determine participants for MSC. Historically, this has been the case for Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.
Before the tournament begins, there will be a group draw process. MSC will host a total of 12 teams, divided into 3 pools. Pool 1 consists of the 1st place winners of MPL from Indonesia (EVOS), Singapore (EVOS), Malaysia (RSG), and Philippines (Blacklist). Pool 2 consists of the runner-ups from each MPL which are BTR from Indonesia, RSG from Singapore, Todak from Malaysia, and Execration from the Philippines.
Lastly, Pool 3 will consist of teams from countries with no MPL, which are Impunity (Cambodia), IDNS (Thailand), Nightmare Esports (Laos), and Cyber Exe (Vietnam). Using these 3 pools, a draw will be conducted dividing the teams into 4 groups. Each group will consist of 1 team each from the 3 pools, drawn at random. The Group Draw will be live on the MLBB Youtube and Facebook page at 6 pm (GMT+8) on June 2nd.
Then, the tournament will begin with a group stage where teams will compete in a best of 3 round robin. Winning teams will head to the upper bracket, and losing teams will compete in play-ins that will determine whether they can enter the lower bracket, or get eliminated. Afterwards, the playoffs will happen where losing teams in the upper bracket will move to the lower bracket, and losing teams in the lower bracket are eliminated. Teams continue to play until 1 finalist team from each bracket remains. These two final teams will then compete for the title in the Grand Finals.
