Mobile Games Publisher Voodoo acquires photo sharing app BeReal for $540 million

Voodoo, one of the leading Mobile App and Games Publishers, made a massive move in the market by clinching the photo-sharing app BeReal for $540 million (€500 million).

This is one of the big deals for Voodoo since the BeReal app, ever since its birth in 2019, gained popularity by inspiring users to share uncurated moments with friends, one of the first platforms with features designed to emphasize authenticity. It has more than 40 million monthly active users, specifically in the USA, Japan, and France, and even was able to achieve a mass appeal.

Meanwhile, Voodoo, established in 2013, is a developer and publisher of mobile games and apps that has created such popular releases as Mob Control, Archery Clash, Scribble Rider, and Miraculous Squad. With an eye on making moves in the industry, last year, it set a goal to achieve $100 million in revenue per game with its hybrid games.

Alexandre Yazdi, Voodoo co-founder and CEO expressed delight in this deal. He stated: “BeReal achieved incredible user loyalty and growth, showing there is a universal need to share real, unfiltered experiences with close friends. We are very excited to bring our teams together and leverage Voodoo’s know-how and differentiated technologies to scale BeReal into the iconic social network for authenticity.”

Well, with this deal, BeReal will expand with Voodoo’s backing. The publisher will assist BeReal in developing new features and help expand the latter through marketing. Leveraging Voodoo’s experience with popular mobile products, this acquisition also strengthens Voodoo’s global position and accelerates BeReal’s development.
