NCSoft has announced its new Shindenki Magic RPG, Astrae Oratio, which is currently in development. Originally known as Project AT, the game is being developed by Dynamis One, a Korean studio consisting of former devs of Blue Archive.
Get ready to enter a world where magic powers the city
So, Astrae Oratio is a new RPG that takes place in Tokyo during the fictional Reisei era, specifically in 1899. And, while the setting looks historical, the world is actually very advanced, as the game is centered around magic and administration. So, the city itself looks very modern, with even the Tokyo Tower close to completion.
Now, according to the lore, Tokyo was chosen over Kyoto to host the next Expo, thanks to the huge postwar economic boom. And I like how magic works here, as it directly correlates to the human population and urban scale. I mean, the more the city becomes bigger, the stronger its magical influence is.
You can engage in magical Trials of Dominion using powerful Artifacts, join clans, and more
Here, you step in as a Shunin working for the Special District Office, an organization focused on administration and magical control. They actually act as a foundation that balances the land and magic around it. Interestingly, this org itself was built by a mysterious organization called the Other Cabinet.
As for combat, you can engage in magic duels called Trials of Dominion, where you can use special weapons called Artifacts, like the legendary Dagger of Hectate, each with the will of its owner. Overall, the game already looks promising with the stunning visuals, gameplay, and also the five clans like Minato Ward and Seiran Fellowship from Chuo District.
Astrae Oratio is currently in development, and the exact release date will be announced later. So, stay tuned for more updates! Meanwhile, you can also check out our upcoming mobile games list.
