Big news for RTS and Northgard fans alike as Shiro Games has officially rolled out the multiplayer update for the mobile version of Northgard, on both iOS and Android devices. It is also now set to support crossplay. Read on to know more details about this highly exciting update.
Northgard: The latest update enables crossplay
Shiro Games have confirmed that players will be able to play against opponents from both Android and iOS devices “without any barriers”. This is certainly huge, given that the game is still in its infant stage. Shiro Games have also outlined the multiplayer features present in the game, which are:
- Duel: It allows users to challenge any player to a 1v1 battle.
- Teamplay: It has the same rules as duel but gives players the opportunity to form alliances and fight against each other in either a 2v2, 3v3 or 2v2v2 mode.
- Free-for-all: It pits upto 6 players against each other as they all attempt to be the first to seal victory by satisfying any one of the victory conditions. One must fight to death, gain influence by making smart trades or pursue favors for Gods to cross the finishing line.
Northgard is a real-time strategy game that was initially released in 2017 for PC and later Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. The game is also available for Linux and Macintosh operating systems. It was a commercial hit on PC, selling well over 2 million copies, a number which was considered way beyond expectations as Shiro Games were still a relatively unknown entity in the market.
The game focuses heavily on Vikings and Norse mythology. The style of gameplay is extremely similar to the highly popular Age of Empires franchise. The iOS version was released in April this year, while the Android version hit shelves on the Play Store just last month.
