Mobile game developer, Playwind Games has announced that it has secured a $4 million investment round led by leading global game developer and publisher, Garena. They are the creators of global mobile hit Free Fire, the most downloaded mobile game in the world for three years running, according to App Annie.
This funding will support Playwind Games’ future growth in gaming industry
Playwind Games was founded at the end of 2020 by Jack Tang, previously CEO and founder of Funky Panda Games. Tang has over a decade’s experience working on social mobile games. During this experience, he worked on titles such as Sims Social, Simcity Social, and Pet Society in previous positions at Electronic Arts and Playfish.
He went on to found the mobile game studio Funky Panda Games. Its first release, Monster Mountain, was awarded ‘Best New RPG’ in the 2016 TIGA Awards. Meanwhile, this $4million funding led by Garena will support Playwind’s future growth as it develops a new generation of social-first games for the casual mobile market.
“More importantly, this investment comes from a respected industry figure the entire team at Playwind has a tremendous amount of respect for, and we’re excited to work alongside Garena, who share our belief that mobile games are better when we play together,” he concluded.
