PXLPLAY is a new mobile Indie Arcade title now available on Android and iOS

The best arcade games used to be in arcades. Now they’re on smartphones.

PXLPLAY is the latest mobile arcade game to catch our eye, and it looks like a classic in the making. For one thing, it belongs to the exclusive club made up of games that have been finalists in Indie Pitch events, along with bonafide classics like Hidden Folks, The Almost Gone, and Horizon Chase Turbo.

Enjoy a stress-free adventure in a colorful pixel world

In terms of its general look and feel, PXLPLAY is happily reminiscent of titles like Crossy Road and Smashy Road, with a similar blocky, colorful 3D art style. The gameplay sees you helping a cuboid character called PXL to negotiate a perilous floating platform, which means taking 90-degree corners, ducking under obstacles, jumping over other obstacles, and so on. You can do all of these things with a simple tap on the screen.

As you progress through the stages, meanwhile, you’ll collect miniature cuboids, Pac-Man-style. These are your points, and if you manage to hoover up enough of them you’ll find yourself at the top of the game’s leaderboard.

Though probably not for long. Stages in PXLPLAY are completely random, meaning every single attempt contains its own unique challenges. Overcome these challenges and you’ll steadily unlock new characters to play with. There are more than 80 to collect, along with 40+ achievements, so there’s always something to chase besides points.

Like the best of its genre stablemates, PXLPLAY is aimed at every type of player, from those who want a challenge to those who just need to kill a bit of time.

It’s rated for EVERYONE on Google Play, too, and it’s part of the Google Families Program, so everybody in your household can give it a shot. To get started, head to the Google Play Store or the App Store to download PXLPLAY for free right now.
