Return to Empire: Xbox Game Studios and TiMi Studios are working on a new Age of Empires mobile IP

The mobile version will be called Return to Empire

The legendary real-time strategy video game Age of Empires is coming to mobile devices once again. Timi Studios, a subsidiary of Tencent Games, is working jointly with Xbox Game Studios and its subsidiary World’s Edge to adapt and release the mobile version titled Return to Empire. This is the first result of the collaboration between Xbox Games Studio and the TiMi Studios that was announced back in May this year.

The popular strategy series released its first game back in 1997 and still going strong with its upcoming game Age of Empires 4.

Return to Empire will release in China initially

The new title of the Age of Empires series will be called Return to Empire. Earlier this year, during the 2021 Tencent annual game conference, the company revealed that the game is getting a mobile version. The news attracted netizens’ eyes when Daniel Ahmad tweeted about it.

The game is currently in the initial stage of development and will be only made for the Chinese market on its first release. Based on its performance and user review, the game might get a global release. No statement has been released yet from the chief officials of Tencent Games or TiMi Studios regarding the global release yet. As the game has a strong fan base and an appealing face, it might soon come to the global stage.

From the short teaser trailer of Return to Empire, it is seen that the background music remains the same as its previous titles have. Timi Studios are also known for Call of Duty: Mobile, Pokémon Unite, and Arena of Valor.

The game will feature high-end graphics and modern looks. The developers of Return to Empire will release another demo video on August 14 which will cover some more news regarding the game.

Return to Empire pre-registration is open in China

An official website of the game has been introduced, where pre-registration is currently going on for players from China only. With their QQ account, players can pre-register for the game. Users who have completed pre-registration will receive some specific in-game rewards.

As Tencent is successful in taking renowned IPs on a global scale, one can hope that the game will return globally to fulfill the thirst of all the Age of Empires fans.
