Another game faces its demise as SINoALICE, the global version of the fantasy RPG, is scheduled to shut down on November 15th followed by the Japanese version shut down on January 15, 2024. The game was released on July 1, 2020, and after marking its three-year anniversary recently, the announcement was made live on the official website of the game.
The reason for the shut down of SINoALICE is not revealed
SINoALICE is a collaborative creation between the renowned Japanese director Yoko Taro and composer Okabe Keiichi. The game offers an elegantly designed portrait-style gameplay that allows you to fully immerse yourself in the captivating storylines by stepping into the characters’ shoes.
Given the game’s positive response, while earning over 1 million downloads on the Google Play Store alone, one would expect it to carry forward for a long time. However, this doesn’t appear to be the case, as news of the shutdown was announced. It’s worth noting that the developer has chosen not to reveal the exact reason behind this decision.
The schedule for the end of service is announced, which is as follows.
Date and Time | End of Service Schedule |
---|---|
September 1, 2023 | Discontinuation of the sale of in-app currency, Twilight Crystals, for iOS and Android. |
November 15, 2023 | Commencement of accepting refund requests for any remaining balance of unused Paid Twilight Crystals for iOS and Android. |
November 15, 2023 | End of Service – The app will no longer be available for download on the App Store and Google Play. Discontinuation of the use of in-app currency, Twilight Crystals, for iOS and Android. |
As of today, in-app purchases for both iOS and Android platforms have been halted, and users can request refunds. The application will be permanently discontinued on November 15th at 5:00 (UTC). While this was only for the global version, Square Enix also recently announced that SINoALICE will cease its services in Japan on January 15, 2024, thus getting off its Japanese version as well.
