Team Secret has been crowned as the champions of the Philippines Pro Gaming League (PPGL) 2021 Fall after they defeated FENNEL Adversity. Besides winning the regional championship title, Team Secret has now also secured its place at the upcoming Wild Rift SEA Championship 2021. They’ll directly participate in the group stage of the tournament, while the runner-up of PPGL 2021 Fall, FENNEL Adversity will compete in the SEA Championship Play-Ins. The PPGL playoffs commenced on September 3rd, 2021, and concluded on September 5th, 2021. Team Secret, being the champions, has been awarded a sum of ₱300,000 (approximately $6,0000) as the prize money.
The Philippines Pro Gaming Series is an esports series held for the Philippines region which is hosted by Mineski and is a part of the SEA Icon Series. The PPGL 2021 Fall had started featuring eight teams fighting it out for a total prize pool of ₱750,000 (approximately $15,000).
PPGL 2021 Fall: As it happened
Team Secret faced Lakan Esports in the quarter-finals and Omega Esports in the semi-finals of the championship. Winning by 2-0 margin against Omega Esports, Team Secret moved on to the winners’ finals. FENNEL Adversity went up to the winners’ finals as well to face Team Secret after playing another qualifier. In the end, Team Secret took the match away by beating FENNEL Adversity by a margin of 2-0 which cemented their place in the Grand finals.
The runner-up in the winners’ finals, FENNEL Adversity, got another chance to qualify for the Grand finals. They defeated DR Esports by 2-0 in the losers’ finals. Moreover, they were now confident to get their revenge from Team Secret. In due course, they won the first match of the Grand finals and made the scoreline 1-0. But, Team Secret made a strong comeback over the next three matches and went on to maintain their win streak against FENNEL Adversity by winning the finals by 3-1.
Prize Pool
The champions of PPGL 2021 Fall, Team Secret were rewarded with a sum of ₱300,000 (approximately $6,0000) prize money for their incredible performance. Hard luck for the runner-up team, FENNEL Adversity, they played very well in the grand finals. However, they also got a decent share in the prize money. The team was awarded a sum of ₱175,000 (approximately $3,500), while DR Esports, the third-placed team bagged ₱125,000 (approximately $2,500) prize money.
