The Witcher: Monster Slayer is set to release on Android and iOS on July 21

Step out into the world of Geralt of Rivia

There’s good news for Witcher fans as CD Projekt CFO Piotr Nielubowicz confirmed that The Witcher: Monster Slayer is set to release on Android and iOS devices this summer 2021 on 21st July! when presenting the company’s fiscal results for the year 2020. Announced earlier in 2020, the game had already been soft-launched in Australia and New Zealand and it is expected that global audiences will be able to get their hands on the latest game in the long-running series very soon. Meanwhile, Android players now can register for early access on the official website.

An augmented-reality experience

Monster Slayer isn’t the typical Witcher game, rather it so expected to use AR functionality in a manner similar to the smash hit Pokémon Go. Similar to the previous entries in the Witcher series, the players will be tasked with brewing potions, gathering equipment, and of course, fighting monsters. Players can choose the fight monsters at any time of the day in an augmented reality environment which promises to provide a highly immersive experience not seen in previous Witcher titles.

In addition to fighting monsters, players will also be encouraged to explore the vast open world and dive deep into the rich Witcher lore. There are also a number of story-driven quests that can be completed by the player and the rewards earned can be used to improve their character. On slaying a beast, players will be granted trophies as a reward which they can collect.

The game is set well before the time of Geralt of Rivia but promises to be consistent with the Witcher lore found in the games, movies, and books. With a rather ambitious but exciting AR approach to this particular iteration, fans of the Witcher series have enough reason to be excited about this upcoming smartphone title.
