- Ubisoft Montreal is working on a brand-new sci-fi competitive shooter codenamed Project Scout.
- Project Scout will bring a complete cross-platform experience for Consoles, PC, and mobile.
Ubisoft seems to be gearing up for something massive with its newly discovered project, currently codenamed Project Scout. According to a new job listing from Ubisoft Montreal, this upcoming title is described as a large-scale, competitive sci-fi first-person shooter powered by Unreal Engine 5.
Project Scout is set to feature large-scale, crossplay gameplay powered by UE5
What’s especially interesting is that the job description for Senior Gameplay Programmer mentions the game will offer a “complete cross-platform experience,” spanning everything from mobile to high-end consoles and PC. Many sources on X have also been reporting, with a few revealing the snippets from the title as well.
The mention of “close-knit team of industry veterans” and “brand-new, large-scale multiplayer game“ makes it pretty clear that it is going to be an ambitious project from Ubisoft.
While details about Project Scout’s gameplay and world remain under wraps, the fact that Ubisoft is building it in UE5 suggests this is going to be a huge project and might take time to launch. And considering the studio behind it, Ubisoft Montreal, the expectations will be understandably high.
This move fits perfectly with Ubisoft’s growing focus on multi-platform ecosystems. Especially after Tencent Games’ €1.16 billion investment into Ubisoft’s new subsidiary, it’s clear that the company wants to evolve beyond simple mobile ports.
Crossplay is a tricky side to look at things if you ask me. Sure, the idea of all the players playing together is exciting, but it might be tough to match many things on mobile compared to PC/Consoles, say graphics or ease of controls, but this is surely exciting.
