Vi Games: Vodafone Idea teams up with Nazara Tech to introduce subscription pass for mobile games

The service will have 1400+ free and paid games!

Vodafone Idea, one of the three major telecom services in India, has now announced Vi Games, their own free and subscription-based service that will bring more than 1400 games to its users by collaborating with Nazara Tech. Nazara is an Indian company specializing in sports and gaming and has titles like World Cricket Championship under their belt.

Vi Games will have games available in Free, Gold, and Platinum Passes

The service is available for users on Vodafone Idea’s network and offers games in various genres like action, arcade, casual, racing, and others in three different packages. There’s a free pack with ads and 250+ titles, A Gold Games Pass, which gets players to access 30 games for Rs 50 for postpaid and Rs 56 for prepaid plans, while those with postpaid packs costing Rs 499 or more will get access to 5 free Gold Games per month. The third pack is the Platinum Games pack, requiring users to pay for each game individually, with the games costing Rs 25 for postpaid and Rs 26 for prepaid plans.

In a press statement, Avneesh Khosla, Chief Marketing Officer, Vodafone Idea, said, We are seeing a significant uptake of gaming consumption in India with more than 95 percent of gaming enthusiasts using the mobile device to enjoy a wide variety of content. We see gaming as a major focus area of our digital content strategy, and we intend to build a comprehensive play encompassing most facets of gaming to establish Vi as a preferred destination for both casual as well as serious gamers.”

Final Thoughts

The service mostly has lower quality games except for a handful, if one compares it to what is available in the market today. Honestly, if you’re thinking of taking the Gold or Platinum Pass for any reason, take a look at Apple Arcade or Google Play Pass.

Both are very economical but can give you access to games that are way better than the catalogue, which Vi Games currently is offering. However, considering the fact they’ve not been doing too well in recent years, this could be something that brings them some success and allows them to keep competing with their competitors in the Indian market, Airtel and Jio.
