- Call of Duty: Mobile confirms a new big Battle Royale map is in development.
- Gulag is officially returning to CODM after community feedback.
Call of Duty: Mobile has finally given players and the community something that has been asking for over the last couple of years. During the first-ever Inside CODM developer discussion show, Head of COD Mobile at Activision, Jeff Gullett, confirmed that a brand-new big Battle Royale map is officially in development, while Gulag is also making a return.
The reveal happened during a discussion alongside creator Ferg and host Spidertiff, where several community questions pulled from Reddit and YouTube were directly answered by the developers.
COD Mobile to reveal more BR map details during the anniversary season later this year
When asked whether CODM players would finally get another large-scale Battle Royale map, Jeff gave a pretty direct “yes” before teasing that more information could arrive during the game’s anniversary season later this year.

Rebirth Island in the DMZ: Recon itself has been received fairly well because of its faster pacing and close-range fights, but players have still continued asking for another completely new big map experience for Battle Royale. Looks like that is finally happening now.
As for Gulag, which came as a limited-time map during Season 7 titled Phantom Current, it is also coming back. But the exact timeline of “when” was not revealed.
It arrived on the Isolated map in Battle Royale mode, where we would be deployed to a 1v1 deathmatch after first elimination to redeploy or wait for our teammate to pick our dog tags for a second chance. Jeff also explained that Gulag became one of the best examples of community feedback directly shaping future updates.
According to him, the developers noticed how disappointed players were after its removal, especially since it had replaced the classic dog tag revival system for a while.

The game has relied heavily on Isolated and Blackout for years now, while most newer BR updates have focused more on mechanics, limited-time features, or smaller-scale experiences. Recently, the developers replaced Alcatraz with Rebirth Island, which they described as their “most intense map to date,” alongside new DMZ Recon mechanics.
As for what map could arrive remains under wraps, we still have a good six months to wait before the new map graces the game. It is because if we are going by the anniversary update pattern, the 6th Anniversary celebrations were in December last year, while the 4th and 5th were in November. Right now, all we can do is wait.
