New information has emerged demonstrating that a Bloomberg report from August that claimed the cancellation of an unannounced mobile game based on the Warcraft franchise was caused by a fallout between Blizzard Entertainment and NetEase (where more than a hundred developers on the latter’s end were displaced) may have been incorrect.
Warcraft Mobile might still be in the pipeline
New rumors are now floating around and these have mostly stemmed from two main pieces of news. The first one is from an official statement made by a spokesperson from Activision Blizzard who stated that Activision Blizzard and NetEase ācontinue to have an extremely successful relationship.ā. This statement came on the same day as the report.

More recently, more proof has come up in the form of several very recent job listings for an āUnannounced Warcraft Mobile Projectā being worked on in Irvine, California which really seems to cement the claim that the said game might not really be dead and buried.
Now thereās still no clarity on the progress of the gameās development so not much can be said about how far the game has gotten however we at least have some confirmation now. The job posts donāt really give too much information about the project aside from mentions of a ānew Warcraft mobile projectā.
Blizzard has already revealed a game in the Warcraft franchise for mobile in the form of Warcraft Arclight Rumble, which has already been booed off by players. We should hear more of this soon as it will create waves in communities because a mobile game set in the Warcraft universe is no small deal. It should be interesting to see where this project goes (and hopefully Blizzard will learn from their mistakes).
