The Freemium model for applications and video games is quite popular at present as it tends to draw in a large amount of crowd due to the fact that the base content is available for free. The best example when it comes to consoles and PCs would be Fortnite, one of the most played games in the world. Another example would be Warframe, one of the lesser-known freemium titles for these platforms with a significantly large player base. Warframe was released back in 2013 for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 4, in 2014 for Xbox One, and eventually made it’s way to Nintendo Switch in 2018. The game will also be released for the upcoming PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles. Since the game is or will be, available in all of the world’s most used platforms, what’s stopping it from making it’s way to mobile? As it seems, a recent announcement indicates that a mobile version of Warframe will be available in the near future.
The annual report talks about a potential mobile version of Warframe
The announcement is a part of a broader annual report by Leyou Technologies Holdings Limited. This is the company which owns Digital Extremes, the studio that developed and published Warframe. The 210 page report mostly contains financial details pertaining to Warframe over the past year and its future plans. Now, this is where things get exciting. Here’s one of the many things that Xu Yiran, the Chairman of Leyou, said
When will Warframe Mobile be released?
Even though Digital Extremes did not explicitly announce an upcoming mobile version for Warframe, this statement clearly proves that the company is indeed looking into it. As per his statement, we can safely assume that the developers are probably in the planning stage right now and full-fledged development has not begun for the mobile title. We already saw mobile versions of PUBG and Fortnite, two of the most played video games in the world. Therefore, for a freemium game like Warframe, it will indeed be an ace move right now to come up with a mobile port as it is the most accessible gaming platform.
As per the Chairman’s statement, they might also add cross-platform gameplay for Warframe which means you might be able to play with PC and console players. As of now, we have no idea about an official announcement or release date. It is less likely that the release will happen anytime soon, however, it won’t be too long before the developers finally announce a mobile version for Warframe.

I love your website, but these days it’s no fun :(. All old news from other sources 🙁
News is supposed to be more or less the same in all the websites. We curate news before we post as you can see we do not just post a piece of news just because it is news, and when any big news arrives, most websites will cover it. Probably that’s the reason you are feeling so. 🙂
Oh understandable. I love reading about the mobile gaming industry. Maybe try bringing more article like this plz – https://gamingonphone.com/editorial/why-hyper-casual-games-are-becoming-so-popular/
Yeah Raj, we always try bringing editorial pieces, but those are really hard to come up with. Not just the data, but also getting topics are an issue.
If you have something on your mind, please feel free to let us know and we’ll see if we can come up with something to feed your curiosity.
Team GamingonPhone really appreciates your feedback! 🙂
Turning Warframe into a shitty freemium mobile game is the worst idea ever. Also the developers have said as recent as 3 weeks ago (I watch all their Dev streams) that there are zero plans to make it cross platform, the closest thing would be that they are looking at the possibility of cross save.
Warframe is not a game anyone can just play on a phone. This is what is wrong with gaming now. It’s all going mobile.
But don’t you think some are really adding value in the mobile platform? You can take PUBG Mobile as an example.
That’s a really negative way of looking at it. I’d be more excited if I could take my adventure on the go (imagine playing a round of Sanctuary Onslaught while on your way from school/college/university). The wording from DE seems to indicate that Warframe’s mobile outing might be a different one, not related to the full game, I’d actually want them to ditch Activision’s and Tencent’s model of bringing a version of their game to mobile and instead giving players another platform to take their game to. Genshin Impact is a game that already does this, allowing you to play… Read more »
