Apex Legends Mobile release is still in the works

EA had announced the mobile release of Apex Legends in May 2019 in addition to a release in China. The publisher remained silent on the topic these past few months. Finally, we have an update as reported by PC Gamer. However, we still do not have a confirmed release date for the game.

EA’s Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen made the following statement during their Q3 earnings call,

Rolling mobile out in China, you need to have a partner, and we’re—as we’ve said in the prepared remarks today—we’re working with a partner there, and we’re very excited about the opportunity. That partner is also helping us develop a mobile Apex for the globe—more to come on that in terms of timing.

It is common for mobile ports to be handled by external partners since the in-house team usually focuses on the improvement of the game itself. Chinese developers (like Tencent) usually handle mobile ports, so it would make sense that the same partner handles the Chinese release as well.

When Apex Legends Mobile will release?

While we do not have a release date, EA has confirmed a release window for the fiscal year of 2021. The fiscal year of 2021 puts the game’s release between October 1, 2020 and September 20, 2021.

Apex Legends had a positive launch on PC with many players praising the ease of communication through in-game emotes. I have played my fair share of PUBG and using voice chat can dampen the sound of the game. This makes it difficult to listen to in-game sound cues which is crucial for survival.

The emote system could be a game-changer for Apex Legends in mobile.

If Apex Legends is able to maintain the emote system in its mobile transition, it would be an ideal way for the game to build an audience.

We all know that Battle Royale games are in the plenty (PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, Call of Duty Mobile etc.). However, Apex Legends could still create a splash if the launch was seamless. Only time will tell.

Can’t wait to get my hands on this game!

Demon

I have played the PC one very briefly but it definitely beats Pubg or CoD on mobile if the version is the same as the PC.

Sean

I’m waiting for Call of Duty Mobile vs PUBG Mobile vs Apex Legends Mobile

We will probably release an article on those lines when the game releases. XD
