Warhammer AoS: Soul Arena, the upcoming strategy game developed by Trophy Games and set in the fantasy universe of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, is now available to download in its early access stage. Read on to know more details about this exciting upcoming title.
Inspired from Dota Auto Chess
Soul Arena is an auto battler-based strategy game set in the fantasy Age of Sigmar universe. The game is said to be heavily inspired by Dota Auto Chess, a mod for the highly popular MOBA title Dota 2 on PC.
Dota Auto Chess is widely credited with being the game that spawned the “auto battler” genre of video games owing to its insane popularity where at one point, it boasted a player count of over eight million players. Thus, one can expect Soul Arena to play similarly to Dota Auto Chess.
About Warhammer AoS: Soul Arena
Players will be able to select a team captain before the start, depending on how they want to approach the game. The game features a number of chess-like units which players can collect, merge and even upgrade to give them an edge during the battle. Players will also be encouraged to create “synergies” or connections by mixing and matching units of different factions in order to provide a tactical edge on the battlefield.
The end goal of the game is to be the last man standing among all your opponents. The game also features cross-play between PC, Mac, and mobile users thus ensuring that matchmaking is not hindered by platform limitations and also giving users a chance to compete against a wider range of players.
The game can also be played in single-player mode against the AI. There are also set to be a number of in-game tournaments for players to compete in. Finally, the game will also feature a “ranked” mode for more hardcore gamers who wish to climb up the ladder. Rankings are set to be decided by an advanced ELO system.
The game is available on early access in Google Play Store and the Steam version is expected to be available in December 2021. Interested fans can also check the official website.
