How Wordle saved the woman from a hostage crisis

Denyse Holt, who lives in the Lincolnwood neighborhood of Chicago, was asleep on February 5 when a mentally ill naked man broke into her home. The woman plays Wordle every day along with her daughter. Holt’s eldest daughter Meredith Holt-Caldwell, who lives in Seattle, noticed that her mother was not responding to text messages and had not sent her daily Wordle, something she never missed.

The daughter smelled something fishy and alerted the authorities. Police were called and an hours-long standoff ensued, with the officers eventually using a stun gun through a hole in the door to subdue and arrest the man. Denyse Holt expressed her gratitude to the police for saving her life.

The culprit, a 32-year-old man, cut himself while breaking the glass of the windows to get into Denyse Holt’s house. He then pointed scissors at Holt and then got into bed with her. After that took the old lady and locked her in the basement bathroom. Holt has confirmed that she was not assaulted by the convict. The man is being detained pending mental health evaluation.
