The anime, Castlevania is one of the most popular Netflix shows. The show was a huge hit among fans and almost revived the Castlevania franchise for a new generation of fans. The show premiered for its fourth season in 2021 and was officially wrapped up by Netflix. However, it looks like the show’s success has prompted Netflix to take the franchise further. During the Netflix Geeked Week, a new anime called Castlevania: Nocturne was announced by the streaming giant.
Castlevania: Nocturne narrates the story of Richter Belmont set during the French Revolution
The previous Castlevania series ended its run, it wrapped up Trevor Belmont‘s story. Trevor Belmont is a vampire hunter of the famed Belmont clan. He helped Alucard to defeat his father, Dracula. In the upcoming series Castlevania: Nocturne, the story will revolve around Trevor and Sypha’s son, Richter Belmont which will be set during the French Revolution period. Kevin Kolde, who served as a producer for the Castlevania show, will serve as the showrunner for the new show.
The shows take inspiration from the classic Castlevania game franchise. The games take place in the castle of Count Dracula who resurrects every hundred years to take over the world and unleashes destruction upon humanity. In most of the games, players take on the role of the Belmonts, a clan of vampire hunters who have defeated Dracula for centuries with the Vampire Killer.
Netflix has officially revealed the first look at the next Castlevania animated series, Castlevania: Nocturne. This new series will be following Richter this time around and is originally teased to also involve Maria Bernard from the original game series. As of now, Netflix has not revealed any release date for Castlevania: Nocturne.
