Arena of Valor and Honor of Kings are partnering to host the Arena of Valor World Cup 2022

The championship will feature a new format with a bigger prize pool!

The Arena of Valor esports scene is all set to go to the next level. Bernd Gottsmann, Tencent Games Lead of the Global Esports center, has announced the esports plans for AOV in 2022. The first major upgrade coming in AOV is that they’re going to host the Arena of Valor World Cup (AWC) in October 2022. And for the very first time Arena of Valor and Honor of Kings are joining hands to host the biggest upcoming esports event for Arena of Valor in 2022.

The AWC 2022 will be held in a new esports format where the teams will fight using heroes from both Arena of Valor and Honor of Kings to ensure a fair, balanced, and super exciting tournament.

In the upcoming Arena of Valor World Cup 2022, 16 teams will be fighting in the initial group stage. Added to the group stage, there will be more opportunities to qualify for those slots as AOV will be holding regional tournaments to allow top teams to fight their way up the ladder. All these teams will be participating in the AWC 2022 to win the lion’s share of a massive prize pool of more than $8,000,000.

Also, in AWC 2022, participants from around the globe will be able to showcase their skills. This is unlike the previous versions of this tournament where it was only limited to teams from Southeast Asia and East Asia. From the next year, the regional tournaments will be held with teams from Asia, North America, South America, Europe, and the Middle East clashing against each other to show their worth.

From local to regional pro leagues, the new system will allow top teams to fight their way up the ladder in hopes of obtaining a slot at the AWC. A full competitive roadmap alongside details on the new leagues as well as the Arena of Valor International Championship will be announced in the next few months

The previous edition of AWC which is AWC 2021 was concluded in the last month. The tournament was held from June 19th, 2021 to July 18th, 2021 where Talon Esports were crowned as the champions. AWC 2021 featured $500,000 as of the total prize pool. With an average of about 154,000 viewers, the AWC 2021 hit a peak of more than 550,000 viewers. With such popularity and hype amongst the players and fans, AWC 2022 is certainly expected to be a blast than the previous editions.
