Kabichans emerge as winners of the Pokémon UNITE Asia Champions League 2024

The recently concluded Pokémon UNITE Asia Champions League 2024 has seen the winners crowned with the Japanese team Kabichans (KS) emerging as the champion of the tournament. To clinch the trophy, they beat Indian team Team True Gravity in the finals by 2-0.

Held in Bangkok, Thailand, the competition which was held on February 17th and 18th, 2024, saw eight formidable teams from across the region vying for the prestigious title. While KS and TTG grabbed the top two spots, the Philippines’ team Talon PH secured third place, followed by the Singapore/Malaysia representative team TeamMYS in fourth.

Kabichans emerged as the dominant force in the tournament, showcasing exceptional skill and teamwork throughout their matches and thus remaining undefeated. They secured victories in the Upper Bracket Finals against eArena, Rise, and Talon Esports, before ultimately claiming the championship title in the Grand Final.

Meanwhile, Team True Gravity made a stunning comeback after being relegated to the Loser Bracket in the initial match. Despite their impressive journey to the finals, they ultimately settled for the runners-up prize.

Pokémon UNITE Asia Champions League 2024 winners Kabichans took home the lion’s share from a prize pool of $88,500 with $40,000 in their name, with the three two getting a mammoth $70,000 in total. The prize pool distribution is as follows.

As indicated, the Pokémon UNITE Asia Champions League 2024 hit a huge milestone by getting 49,000 people watching at the same time. That’s almost as many as the 2023 World Championships, which had 10,000 more viewers. It shows how much more popular the Asian league has become. Reportedly, last year’s Finals had only 15,562 viewers, so this is a big jump, almost three times as many people tuning in.

Looking ahead, attention now turns to the upcoming Pokémon World Championships slated for August 2024 in Honolulu, Hawaii, with over $1,000,000 in cash and prizes, with a massive $500,000 up for grabs.
