Amid a lot of online clamor over the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M3 Champion skin, MOONTON finally gives in to Blacklist International’s request of having a M3 Champion skin of Estes.
After every MLBB World Championship series, the winning team gets the opportunity to select their own skin. EVOS Legends chose Harith after they ruled the M1 World Championship and Bren Esports went for Lancelot after winning the M2 World Championship. Blacklist International during the post-championship press conference agreed on Estes, the hero that played a pivotal role in their team’s back-to-back MPL championships and M3 conquest to be the recipient of the M3 Champion skin.
OhMyV33NUS’ livestream fired it up
However, during a Facebook livestream on 22nd December 2021, Blacklist International skipper Johnmar “OhMyV33NUS” Villaluna while answering a commenter on his livestream revealed that MOONTON has decided to pick another hero for the M3 skin as it was not marketable. The same incident happened in the M2 World Championship when Bren Esports initially picked the hero Chou, but was later given a Lancelot skin.
#WeWantEstes topped Twitter trends from the morning of 23rd December 2021 until the afternoon as fans clamor for Moonton to heed the wish of the world champion. The hashtag #WeWantEstes topped the Philippine Twitter trends list with over 58,000 tweets and continued to make waves on social media, with even the official Facebook account of M2 world champion Bren Esports uploading a post that said, simply: “#WeWantEstes.”
Mobile Legends was review bombed and rating went down to 1.2 Stars
The matter escalated very fast as fans were dissatisfied with how Moonton decided not to go through the request of Blacklist of an Estes M3 Champion skin. Angry fans soon took over all social media platforms and unitedly started protesting to the extent of giving 1-star reviews crumbling down the usual 4.2 Star rating of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang in the Google Playstore to an all-time low of 1.2 Stars only.
Meanwhile, MLBB Esports Team in an Official Statement on 24th December 2021 announced that they will continue with the open communication and hear opinions on the issue.
“There will be another announcement on the M3 skin in the coming days, and we apologize for causing inconvenience to those affected and the players who have supported and loved us along the way. Thank you for your understanding.”
Finally, on 24th December 2021, Moonton finally gave in to Blacklist International wish. MOONTON through the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines page, announced that it has heard recently-crowned the M3 world champion Blacklist‘s request for the special M3 skin be their trademark hero, Estes.
