After Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Malaysia, the Wild Rift SEA Icon Series: Preseason kicked off once again and the champions of the Philippines were concluded today with Nexplay esports winning the tournament. Formerly known as Aether Rift by the community, NXP was known for being a very dominant force in the Philippines. They have won almost every underground esports tournament before the Wild Rift Icon Series came into the scene.
NXP continued to dominate in this tournament where they only lost one game on the whole duration of the tournament against Team Secret and winning a total of 10 games. As the champions, they took home a total of $2,500 while Sunsparks took home $1,250 for finishing second place. Meanwhile, Team Secret and RRQ took home $750 and $500 respectively.

Nexplay esports made that extra effort and preparation for the tournament by analyzing their games from scrims, making several drafts, and preparation for their matches in this tournament. With the said preparations, it was enough to pave their way of being the champions of Wild Rift SEA Icon Series: Preseason Philippines.
Just like it was in Taiwan, the final was a BO7 (Best-of-7) match but unlike Flash Wolves in Taiwan, NXP only took 4 games to win the finals. Moreover, the regions most picked champions were Corki, Braum, Wukong, Lee sin, and Kaisa only having the decent winrate strangely. NXP won all skirmishes and team fights on the finals but one. Also, NXP used a different lane setup called a 1-3-1 in some of their games which is very much known to Mobile Legends: Bang Bang players with the Dragon laner and Support on the mid lane assisting the team’s jungler while the midlaner is put in the Dragon lane.
Key Players for Nexplay Esports in Wild Rift SEA Icon Series: Preseason Philippines Finals
Juschie – Jungler
With a total of 5 MVPs, Juschie is one of the team’s key players. Juschie always showed his jungle prowess with his wide champion pool, high-caliber mechanics, aggressive playstyle, and almost flawless decision-making.
Despite the nerfs, he was the only player to still play jungle Camille in the whole tournament, who turned out to have amazing synergy with Chuley’s Ziggs. He had insane stats and was consistent as well on the whole course of the tournament. Also, he played many other champions like Lee Sin, Gragas, Jarvan IV, and many more.
Arisen- Baron Laner
As a player, Arisen seemed to have certain favoritism to highly mechanical champions like Camille, and his feared Akali. A general definition of a Baron Laner is simple – a champion who is supposed to deal damage, be able to split push and at the same time contribute to team fights at the right time, and sustain lanes.
No doubt, Arisen excels on doing this stuff even getting Double kills on 1 v 5 situations as seen on the Finals. Even with playing more simple champions like Malphite, he still performed pulling off 4 and 3 man knock-ups with Unstoppable Force.
DIZASTR- Support
Another consistent player on NXP’s roster who is known for his great ability to set up good team fights. This trait of his resulted in NXP’s dominant performance in the tournament. Despite not getting any MVPs on the course of the tournament, DIZASTR is MVP to many.
He also has a very wide champion pool which is flexible from the tank. This supports like Braum and Alistar to utility supports like Janna depending on what the team needs. His amazing Rakan performance was also featured on the tournament setting up 5 man charms for Arisen’s Akali cleanup.
Other than these key players, Chuley, Oozee, and Zmitch were the other players in the team whose contributions were also not less behind this feat. Moreover, they all scale well into the games having maximum deaths of 2 on all the games. Farming and positioning are key on carries and they all used it leading to their win.
