Esports is finally going to the Olympics, confirmed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) today. The inaugural event of the Olympic Esports Games will take place in 2025 in Saudi Arabia. A 12-year partnership between the IOC and the National Olympic Committee of Saudi Arabia is making the groundbreaking event possible.
The IOC recently announced the establishment of the event. The organization’s Executive Board will place the proposal for the event in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The joint venture of these two parties will see the daylight, as expected to take place in 2025. Titles for the event will, possibly, be announced at a later date.
Olympic Esports Games 2025 will bring esports a new look
The Saudi NOC has great expertise in the field and is known to all for its endeavor to promote esports globally. This remarkable event excites both parties as they speak of it. The Olympic Committee is looking to receive a great benefit from the event, expressed by IOC President Thomas Bach.
“Saudi Arabia is hugely excited by the prospect of partnering with the IOC and helping to welcome a completely new era for international sport,” said HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal, Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic and Paralympic Committee.
As the IOC is determined to make the event happen, the organization also expects to respect the Olympic values. Besides, Olympic Esports Games 2025 will also promote gender equality, and youths to embrace esports.
Saudi’s consistent effort to grow esports as a discipline finally gets success
Saudi Arabia’s goal to obtain a sustainable economy in the days ahead has manifold operations. Esports is one of the steps to reach it. The IOC will include the International Federations that are already engaged in esports.
