Wild Rift Horizon Cup 2021: The first international tournament will take place in November

A kick-off tournament before the Wild Rift World Championship!

Riot Games has made an announcement of the first international tournament of its popular MOBA title League of Legends: Wild Rift. The Wild Rift Horizon Cup 2021 will be held from the 13th of November, 2021 to the 21st of November, 2021. The top ten teams from around the globe will fight each other in the event. Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre will host the biggest offline event of Wild Rift so far. With support from the Singapore Tourism Board, Riot Games is hoping to carry out the event successfully.

A kick-off tournament before the Wild Rift World Championship

Riot Games have also clarified that this is not the Finale Event of Wild Rift Esports roadmap for the year. It is rather a kick-off tournament before the Wild Rift World Championship 2021. Horizon Cup is an entirely different tournament from the Wild Rift World Championship. The global tournament will be held at a later date.

Riot Games have not yet provided any further information including regional qualifier dates, prize pool, broadcast schedule, and format. The announcement came at a time when teams are fighting in regional tournaments to secure slots for the upcoming Wild Rift World Championship.

Wild Rift Horizon Cup 2021: What we know so far

As the announcement came out of nowhere, there’s so many questions arising regarding the event. But Riot Games have said that this event is a reflection of their “year-long planning of an international esports debut”. They are ready to show the fans “what top tier pro play looks like in Wild Rift”. These statements are enough to make it clear that this event is going to be a “never seen before” tournament.

The announcement has also stated that “Regional competitions have already begun around the world, and the year will finish off with a multi-region event”. This means that the teams will be selected from the ongoing regional qualifiers. There will be 10 teams from those regional qualifiers to participate in the event. Starting from November 13th, 2021, the final will take place on the 21st of the month. Following the results of the recent qualifiers, it looks like Da Kun Gaming and KT Rolster have already booked their slots in the Horizon Cup.
