Wild Rift League Challenger (WRLC) 2022: Teams, format, prize pool, and more

Wild Rift action continues!

The Wild Rift WRL Challenger 2022 is a mini-tournament popularly known as the WRLC. It is a mainstream esports tournament for China Wild Rift Community organized by Riot Games. The Top 6 teams from the Wild Rift Tour (which is a secondary league tour for China, also organized by Riot Games.) The bottom 2 teams from WRL face off to take the last two spots for the next Wild Rift League Challengers season.

The tournament is organized by the Tencent Games and Sponsored by OnePlus. It will be an Offline Lan-based tournament held in WRL Stadium in Shanghai, China. The tournament will start on 15 July 2022 and is expected to end by 20 July 2022.

Wild Rift League Challenger (WRLC) 2022: Format and Schedule

It is a double-elimination tournament where participants compete with each other to be eligible to win the tournament’s championship. The World Right League China 2022 will be an offline event in Shanghai WRL Stadium. The participating teams are WHG Esports, Edward Gaming, Team For Champion, Rare Atom, Super Vin Gaming, SA Esports Club, Trace Esports, and Griffin.

The tournament is divided into 2 brackets that is Upper Bracket and Lower Bracket. The Upper Bracket consists of 2 stages which are Upper Bracket Semi-Finals and Upper Bracket Final. However, the Lower Bracket consists of 3 stages which are Lower Bracket Round 1, Lower Bracket Quarter-Finals, and Lower Bracket Semi-Finals. Lower Bracket Final which will finally give the final 2 teams winning the Upper Bracket and the Lower Bracket respectively.

Upper Bracket Semi-Finals

Scheduled to start from July 15, 2022, 4 teams who have qualified to this stage through Wild Rift League tournaments will battle it out in a best of 5. WHG Esports will play against Rare Atom and Edward Gaming will play against Team For Champion. The Top 2 teams will enter the Upper Bracket Final, and the bottom two will play in the Lower Bracket Quarter Finals. 

Upper Bracket Final

Starting from July 19, 2022, the Upper Bracket Final team will battle it out in a single round-robin best of 7 formats. The winning teams will advance to the WRL Season 2.

Lower Bracket Round 1

Starting from July 16, 2022, 4 teams will play this round. Super Vin Gaming will play against Griffin and SA Esports Club will play against Trace Esports. The winning teams will proceed to Lower Bracket Quarter-Finals.

Lower Bracket Quarter-Finals

Starting from July 17, 2022, the winning teams from Lower Bracket Round 1 will play this round and the winning teams will proceed to the Lower Bracket Semi-Finals.

Lower Bracket Semi-Finals

Starting from July 18, 2022, the winning teams from Lower Bracket Quarter-Finals will play this round and the winning teams of this round will proceed to Lower Bracket Final.

Lower Bracket Final

Starting from July 20, 2022, the winning team of the Lower Bracket Semi-Finals and the losing team from the Upper Bracket Final will play this round. The winning teams will advance to the WRL Season 2.

Wild Rift League Challenger (WRLC) 2022: Prize Pool

Although the Prize Pool of the tournament is not revealed yet some details are out about the tournament. The teams securing 1st and 2nd place in the tournament will seed to the next Wild Rift League Challengers Season 2. Further teams placing between 3rd position to 8th position will seed in the Wild Rift Tour Season 2.
