- CODM developers confirm no major Zombies mode updates are planned right now.
- Development focus remains on Battle Royale and Multiplayer modes.
- The Zombies community are not happy with how the mode is being sidelined.
If you’ve been waiting for big Zombies news in COD Mobile, this latest update might disappoint quite a few. During the first-ever Inside CODM developer discussion show, Head of Call of Duty Mobile Jeff Gullett confirmed that there are currently no plans for major updates to the core Zombies mode.
Zombies will still continue appearing during seasonal events like Halloween
The topic came up directly after creator Ferg asked one of the biggest questions still floating around the COD Mobile community: what exactly is happening with the Zombies mode?
Jeff admitted straight away that he expected this to be one of the most asked questions from players. However, he explained that the development team has to prioritize modes where most of the player base actively spends time, which currently remains Battle Royale and Multiplayer.
So, will the mode disappear? We also have an answer for this. Zombies as a concept will “always be part of CODM,” especially during seasonal events like Halloween. But when it comes to large-scale updates, expansions, or major new content for the core mode itself, those are not in the plans right now.

CODM’s Zombies player base has always been smaller compared to Multiplayer and Battle Royale, but it is also one of the most loyal and vocal parts of the community. Every time Zombies gets rotated out, delayed, or ignored for long periods, discussions immediately return online asking the makers to invest more into the mode.
The mode originally launched back in 2019, got removed entirely in 2020, then eventually returned with Undead Siege and later Classic Zombies support. But outside seasonal refreshes, missions, and smaller updates, the mode has mostly stayed limited compared to the other content offered in COD Mobile.
In the same discussion, the developers also confirmed a brand-new big BR map is in development alongside the return of Gulag, which shows where the focus currently sits.
COD Mobile fans are not happy with the sidelining of the Zombie mode
Still, the response has not gone down well with a large section of the CODM community, especially longtime Zombies players. Across Reddit and YouTube discussions, many players argued that Zombies struggles with player numbers mainly because the mode itself has barely received any decent updates over the years.
Some pointed out that modes like Undead Siege have remained mostly untouched since 2021, while others criticized the lack of maps, progression systems, Easter Eggs, rewards, and optimization improvements.
A lot of the frustration also came from players feeling the discussion focused more on upcoming cosmetics and mythic skins, which the community feels weren’t the important questions that needed to be asked.
