Organized by Riot Games, The Wild Rift League (WRL), the regional league for China, is back with its Season 2 from the 22nd of October, 2022. This is one of the most prestigious tournaments in Wild Rift. The tournament will be held in the Hongqiao Tiandi, known as The Hub in Shanghai, China. This year’s WRL will feature a total prize pool of $415,793 USD. The top 12 teams of China will battle among themselves from the 22nd of October, 2022 till the 2nd of February, 2023 to win the most coveted title.
Wild Rift League China 2022 Season 2: Tournament format
The whole league will be held in three stages. All the stages along with the complete tournament format are explained below:
Stage 1
Stage 1 of WRL will be held in a single Round-Robin format. All the matches will be held in Best of 5 (Bo5) format. The top 6 teams will enter the Stage 2 Challenger group, while the bottom 6 teams will enter the Stage 2 Breakout group. The results of this stage will be carried out to Stage 2.
Stage 2 Challenger
Stage 2 Challenger will also be held in a single Round-Robin format. All the matches of this stage will be held in Best of 5 (Bo5) format as well. The top 4 teams will qualify directly for the playoffs, while the bottom two teams will move to the Seat Decider stage.
Stage 2 Breakout
Stage 2 Breakout will be held in a single Round-Robin format. All the matches will be played in a Best of 3 (Bo3) format. The top 2 teams from this stage will move to the Seat Decider stage. Meanwhile, the bottom two teams will be relegated to the WRL Challengers next season.
Seat Decider
The Top 2 teams from the Breakout Group compete against the bottom 2 teams of the Challenger Group to determine two playoffs spot. All the matches will be played in a Best of 5 (Bo5) format. The two winners from this stage will move to the Playoffs.
Play-offs
Play-offs will be the final stage of the league. This stage will be held in a single elimination (King of the Hill) format. The Quarterfinals and Semifinals are played in a BO3 match series system. Each match of the series will be played in a Best of 7 (Bo7) format. The team who wins two Bo7 first will win the series.
The Grand Finals will be played in a single Best of 7 (Bo7) format. The Quarter Finals and Semi-Finals losers will qualify for the Icons Last Chance Qualifier.
