FIFA Mobile 20: Reviewing the Icons Set 4

Icons have been in-game for the past four months now. These former football legends who have made their mark in history are obtainable through the completion of SBCs. With twelve new icons released each month, grab your all-time idols in the all-new FIFA Mobile 20 Icons SBC. This new fresh batch of twelve icons will be available for a total of 4 weeks so take your time in deciding which will be the best for your squad. We have carefully reviewed and analyzed their costs and playstyles to assist you in figuring out how we can get the best out of them in-game.

Note: In each icons review of FIFA Mobile 20, there is an estimation of the price, do not use this as an accurate representation. It is only an educated estimate, where the cost of the SBCs is calculated in terms of each SBC costing 1 million coins. The costs for training the players have been taken from the FifaRenderz website.

Gianfranco Zola (CF)

  • Skill boost: Acceleration
  • Traits: Tries to beat offside trap, Finesse shot, Flair, Long shot taker, Outside foot shot
  • Requirements: 100 Icon Points, 12 Championship Points

Cost: 3 Major SBCs minimum to get enough of both points, this will cost an average of 2 million coins

Overview

Although the lowest-rated Icons of the set in FIFA Mobile 20, this card has some great all-round stats for its rating. This former Chelsea legend shares the similar Acceleration boost and stats with TOTSSF Quaison (87). However, with this unpopular boost and position, as a CF limits his usability in commonly used formations. Despite this, Zola has great stats and if you have the budget to upgrade him enough, as well as the space to play him, he will prove himself useful.

VSA

Because of the card’s all-round good stats, it should give a decent performance, upgrading the card will greatly improve his gameplay. The only problem with this card is the position, playing him anywhere other than CF, will, of course, have an effect on team rating and chemistry.

Icons in FIFA Mobile

H2H

The CF is a very tactical position in H2H, many people avoid using a CF since it is simply too difficult to use. Zola would fit in perfectly as a CF but you would have to use him correctly. The False 9 would be the best for Zola, here you would have to sacrifice your striker for the CF which would sit back and distribute the ball around leaving space in front of the goal for the wingers to cut in.

The Second Striker would also be a good position for Zola, here you would have to give full support to your main striker, and then finish off any missed shots. If you are looking for your budget Chelsea squads, Zola would complement perfectly your Icons Drogba on ST. Overall, Zola is a very useful tactical card in H2H, the only choice if you know how to use him.

Genaro Gattuso (CDM)

  • Skill boost: Destroyer
  • Traits:  Dives into tackles
  • Requirements: 150 Icon Points, 14 Career Points

Cost: 3 Major SBCs for both types of points, which would cost around 3 million coins

Overview

This AC Milan legend was once the kind of defensive midfielder that would drive fear into the hearts of the opposition’s attack. In FIFA Mobile 20, some heavy upgrades would eventually replicate that feeling of this Icons card. At base overall, the card has promising defensive stats and a great skill boost for a CDM, it shares similarities with Carniball Rice (88). Overall, a promising card with high potential but is very costly to obtain and upgrade.

VSA

Having this card upgraded in your midfield would form a second defensive line, and the Destroyer boost would make it a pain to deal with for your opponent. It would be unlucky for you if it appeared in your attacking chances, since it would be utterly useless there, play this card deep in your midfield, preferably by itself, leaving room for your attacking midfielders.

Icons in FIFA Mobile

H2H

As a CDM for H2H, this card should perform as well defensively as in VSA, however, it lacks the pace to keep up with the commonly used sprinting tactic. Despite this, it will win most tackles and interceptions, just try and defend tactically and avoid diving into tackles as much as possible, as recovery will be difficult for you if you are outplayed. Defensively he is much better than Bundesliga Rivals Witsel for your team.

Patrick Kluivert (ST)

  • Skill boost: Target Man,
  • Traits: Flair, Outside foot shot
  • Requirements: 200 Icon Points, 16 Honor Points

Cost: 4 Major SBCs which would cost an average of about 4 million coins

Overview

This Barcelona Icon is essentially the ‘Starter Pack‘ for a target man, he’s tall, he has the Target Man boost and High/Low work rates. Obviously, you would think that this card would perfect for you, but don’t be fooled, this card’s in-game performance doesn’t meet expectations, even at a higher rating, Kluivert keeps the low agility stats. It is very similar to the Icon Drogba from the previous set with an insane heading stat when fully upgraded.

VSA

Playing this card as a Striker would obviously mean that he would start most chances. Unfortunately, this card’s agility being so low even at higher overalls means that he feels way too stiff to dribble with. The only thing he can do is shoot, although his shots are certainly impressive. On the other hand, his Shotpower and Heading reaches its peak when upgraded to 100 OVR, making him lethal.

Icons in FIFA Mobile

H2H

This card would be a dream for cross-spammers, you may see it used in 5-2-2-1 formations in the lower ranks, however, we personally do not recommend. This is simply due to the fact that he can’t dribble, in some cases, you will have to move the ball with your striker, with Kluivert, he will feel too slow and heavy. On the other hand, if you ignore this weakness of him and use him solely for headers, he will surely be an explosive option upfront.

Jay-Jay Okocha (RM)

  • Skill boost: Counter
  • Traits: Flair, Playmaker
  • Requirements: 250 Icon Points

Cost: A minimum of 5 Major SBCs are required which should cost a total of around 5 million coins

Overview

Definitely one of the better cards of the set comes in the form of the legend, Jay Jay Okocha. The card’s pace and agility are well balanced and the extra shooting shows some potential. It shares similar stats with one of the best RM in-game POTM Gnabry. However, the downsides of this card are the shot power. Avoid power shots as much as possible with this card, any half-decent GK could save them.

VSA

This card is perfectly structured to be great in VSA, it has the pace, dribbling, and shooting to cope with strong meta defenses. Many high-level players would opt for POTM Gnabry instead due to its proven quality. However, if you have the budget, try this card out, it shouldn’t disappoint.

Icons in FIFA Mobile

H2H

This card should perform up to standard in H2H as well, it has 2 very useful skill moves (Roulette/Rainbow) and this combined with pace and dribbling should give you a quality RM. He works best on the counter, as his skill boost suggests, his movement feels smooth and so you could rely on him to carry the ball long distances in short amounts of time.

Henrik Larsson (ST)

  • Skill boost: Finishing
  • Traits: Finesse shot
  • Requirements: 300 Icon Points, 20 Honor Points

Cost: At least 6 Major SBCs which should cost you around 6 million coins

Overview

This Swedish legend comes as the final elite Icons in FIFA Mobile 20 and is not a bad Striker to use. He has great shooting stats and the pace isn’t too bad either. The problem lies in his dribbling, he is a striker that may lose the ball somewhat often. His skill boost isn’t too bad but it isn’t very popular either. This is a very average Striker for such a price and there are definitely much better alternatives available on the market.

VSA

He can shoot very well, both finesse shots and power shots are good, as said previously, he will not be able to move with the ball. However, movement off-ball is not bad, he gets into good positions regularly. Shooting on sight is probably the best option for Larsson.

Icons in FIFA Mobile

H2H

This card performs decently in H2H, he can receive through balls very well and his shots are good at all ranges. As said previously, the card’s dribbling lets it down. Overall, this is a pretty bland card, you could easily find a better card from the market which would have more of an impact on the game.

Carlos Alberto (RB)

  • Skill boost: Defending
  • Traits: Avoids weaker foot, Flair
  • Requirements: 400 Icon Points, 28 Career Points

Cost: Minimum of 8 major SBCs are required which should cost around 8 million coins

Overview

This card has got some great stats as well as a popular skill boost, however, when you compare this card to other cheaper RBs such as Ordiozola, suddenly, it doesn’t seem as good. Carlos Alberto’s work rates are also pretty disappointing, they are High/Medium, which means his high defending stats aren’t used to their full potential.

VSA

It performs well in your defense in VSA, however, the High attacking work rates will mean that this card will appear more often in your attacking chances. You wouldn’t usually cross in those situations and so this card would be pretty useless there, in this case, you should get rid of the ball quick.

Icons in FIFA Mobile

H2H

Not a bad choice in H2H, it can run forward and carry the ball well, however it has low crossing stats. Also, the High/Medium work rates mean the card will often be found out of position, you should find a fast right CB, or else the right side of your defense will be left completely open.

Ian Rush (ST)

  • Skill boost: Shooting
  • Traits: Finesse shot, Power header, Outside foot shot
  • Requirements: 500 Icon Points 30 Legacy Points

Cost: At least 10 Major SBCs which should cost around 10 million coins

Overview

This Icons card has lethal shooting stats, and this combined with the Shooting boost makes its shots really impressive in FIFA Mobile 20. The High/Medium work rates are also perfect for this card. In contrast to this, the card has low pace and dribbling, he is another one of those strikers that can’t move with the ball. This could have been a great striker, pace and agility have ruined it.

VSA

Any good shot Rush takes should find its way into the back of the net, however, like Icon Larsson, he can’t dribble well with the ball. This is basically a stationary goal machine. You would need to surround this card with good dribblers, then get the ball to Rush and he should finish it off.

Icons in FIFA Mobile

H2H

For H2H, Rush’s really good shooting and positioning should find him finishing off many of your attacking chances. Starting the chances with Rush will be a problem and this card has similar problems as in VSA, he can’t dribble and he is way too slow. Don’t be deceived by his name, he certainly does not ‘Rush’ at all.

Rivaldo (LW)

  • Skill boost: Attacking
  • Traits: Avoids weaker foot, Selfish, Finesse shot, Flair, Long shot taker
  • Requirements: 600 Icon Points, 32 Championship Points

Cost: At least 12 major SBCs which should cost around 12 million coins

Overview

Many thought this position was reserved for the great Ronaldinho, instead, EA gave us Rivaldo, an average card at best. As he was in his prime years, the Icons Rivaldo can both score and create goals, in FIFA Mobile 20 he does both really well. This combined with the Attacking boost makes him a promising winger. The only downsides of this card come in the form of his low physicality, low acceleration, and his lazy work rates

VSA

This is a great card for VSA since he can dribble and shoot, making him lethal at long range. Due to its low physicality, this card will definitely not be able to face off against strong meta defenders. Keeping a distance from the goal is the best option for Rivaldo.

Icons in FIFA Mobile

H2H

The stats present a very promising card for H2H, but the work rates let it down. He will be very lazy and you will often find him stationary. The best way to use Rivaldo in H2H would be to give him the ball directly and let him dribble through. The problem here would be his acceleration. Although his sprint speed is high, it will take long for him to reach top speed, he will have already lost the ball by then if your opponent has fast full-backs.

Frank Lampard (CM)

  • Skill boost: Captain
  • Traits:  Powerful driven free-kick, Long passer, Long shot taker
  • Requirements: 700 Icon Points, 34 History Points
  • Recommended Overall

Cost: A minimum of 14 major SBCs are required which should cost around 14 million coins

Overview

This well-known legend from Chelsea is given a 93 rating this season, and his stats may well be some of the best of the whole set. He comes with the Captain boost, making him an even more lethal CM, however, the heel-to-heel skill move is a huge drawback, greatly restricting the card’s dribbling ability. Still, this is definitely one of the best icons out of this month’s set.

VSA

The stats are here are perfect for VSA, make sure to play him where your attacking chances come most since its long-range shots are lethal. Overall, this card is perfect for your attacking CM position in VSA.

Icons in FIFA Mobile

H2H

Lampard performs as well in H2H as in VSA. Although pace, it is best to use the card for long passes, which are impressively accurate. Movement off the ball for Lampard is also great, which means you will often find him in perfect positions to shoot, his lethal shots should almost guarantee a goal. This is a great card if used correctly.

Raul (ST)

  • Skill boost: Second Striker
  • Traits: Finesse shot, Flair
  • Requirements: 800 Icon Points, 36 Honor Points

Cost: At least 16 Major SBCs which is about 16 million coins

Overview

This Real Madrid Icons forward comes as the 3rd highest of this month’s batch in FIFA Mobile 20 and unlike the previous strikers we have seen, this card can actually both dribble and shoot well. His pace is also not too bad and the skill boost is also great. Work rates and traits are also perfect for a Striker. Overall, not a disappointing card, it would be great at a lower price since they are a lot of better options on the market that are cheaper.

VSA

It can dribble and shoot well, off-ball movement is also good, there isn’t much more to say really. He has good ball control and dribbling and an excellent skill boost to compliment his stats. If you looking for your thematic Madrid squads, he fits perfectly well. This is a very above average, but not good enough for the effort required to get him.

Icons in FIFA Mobile

H2H

In H2H, this would be a useful card, as said. previously he can do everything a striker should be able to do. The only problem is the pace, although the sprint speed is higher, and will get higher with the skill boost, the acceleration is too low, you won’t be able to reach top speed quick enough, meaning his sprint speed goes to waste, Nevertheless, you should already have 2 fast wingers which could do the running work for you.

Bobby Moore (CB)

  • Skill boost: Holding
  • Traits: None
  • Requirements: 900 Icon Points, 38 Career Points

Cost: At least 18 Major SBCs which equates to around 18 million coins

Overview

The captain of the England team that won the 1966 World Cup is finally in FIFA Mobile 20, this card has really good stats and the pace is also very impressive. The stats combined with the skill boost make him a lethal card on paper. In-game, you will find that he is very small. The stats should make up for this but still, height will be a huge problem.

VSA

As the stats suggest, this card will be like a homing missile in VSA, somehow always getting the ball. The only problem is of course the height, corners will catch you out as well as attackers with the increasingly popular Rainbow skill move. A simple flick over the top should get you past Moore. You would have to partner this card up with a tall CB like Van Dijk, they will complement each other well.

Icons in FIFA Mobile

H2H

Like in VSA, this card’s height will cause you problems. As well as on corners, any cross spammer will find it easy to beat your defense which is why another tall defender is necessary. Moore does have some good jumping and heading stats however they may not work well with the low height. It seems like EA tried to make this card really good to complement with the height, it is half decent, but still not the best.

Diego Maradona

  • Skill boost: Free Kicks
  • Traits: Avoids weaker foot, Finesse shot, Flair, Playmaker
  • Requirements: 1150 Icon Points, 44 Legacy Points

Cost: A minimum of 23 Major SBCs is required which would cost around 23 million coins

Overview

Diego Maradona, regarded as one of the best of all time is another topic to rant about. Although having some great stats, the skill boost makes it another disappointing end to the batch of icons. EA seems to enjoy ruining base icons in the hope that more people will attempt the prime icon versions. This card has some really impressive stats, would be great if it was cheaper.

VSA

This card possesses the perfect stats that make him great in VSA. He can do everything you need him to do, the only problem, however, is the card’s physicality, he is a little too weak, you may have to settle with only taking long shots and giving through balls from a distance if you know your opponent has strong defenders. His free-kicks and curves are insane and if you are satisfied with his skill boost, you can go for him.

Icons in FIFA Mobile

H2H

Many players would think that Maradona would be able to dribble through everyone and score crazy solo goals as he did in his prime. This is not the case in FIFA Mobile, he is too weak in to attempt anything like that. The best way to use Maradona would be as a playmaker. Use a striker with good positioning and shooting such as UTOTSSF Ronaldo, put Maradona behind, and repeatedly send through balls to him. Maradona works best in small spaces, use this to secure possession of the ball. If you know how to use Maradona, he will prove very useful to you.
