Fortnite is an action-packed battle royale game from Epic Games where players need to fight against 100 players on an island and survive till the end to become the winner. Fortnite is known for its numerous updates with which it brings several rewards for its players on the completion of different challenges. As Epic Games gets ready for the next big update as Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 is closing in on its end, they are still not lacking in the quests and challenges department and introduced the latest Cipher Quests.
List of all Cipher Quests in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1
Fortnite Cipher Quests are now live and new quests will be introduced every day till March 7, 2023. Players will have till the end of March 10, 2023, to complete every quest. This quest brings with itself five different cosmetic rewards out of which two will be directly related to completing encrypted tasks so players will need to know how to decode them properly which they’ll get to know by the end of this guide.
The quests in this event are divided into unencrypted Cipher Quests which have clear descriptions of what the players need to do and encrypted Cipher Quests which the players will need to decode to understand its true meaning using the clues provided. Here’s the list of the set of quests that have already been leaked and will be made live during the complete time period of the event.
All Unencrypted Cipher Quests in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1
- Visit Fortnite Bastion Outposts (3)
- Collect ammo from chests (150)
- Upgrade vehicles with Off-Road Tires or Cow Catchers (3)
- Hit opponents with ranged weapons from 75 meters or more (5)
- 1 of 4 – Get eliminations with a weapon of Uncommon rarity or higher (3)
- 2 of 4 – Get eliminations with a weapon of Rare rarity or higher (3)
- 3 of 4 – Get eliminations with a weapon of Epic rarity or higher (3)
- 4 of 4 – Get eliminations with a weapon of Legendary rarity or higher (3)
- 1 of 4 – Damage opponents with the Infantry Rifle or the Six Shooter (300)
- 2 of 4 – Damage opponents with the Infantry Rifle or the Six Shooter (1,000)
- 3 of 4 – Damage opponents with the Infantry Rifle or the Six Shooter (2,000)
- 4 of 4 – Damage opponents with the Infantry Rifle or the Six Shooter (3,500)
- Mark targets with the Fortnite Falcon Scout (3)
- Drive a vehicle in different named locations (5)
- Deal explosive damage to enemy players (250)
- Collect bars from eliminated players (50)
- Complete Fortnite bounties (3)
- Purchase items from a Character or a Vending Machine (5)
- Reroll Fortnite augments (3)

How to decode encrypted Cipher Quests in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1
If we take an example from the official post made by Fortnite where they introduced the event, they used the number “3 18 1 3 11 20 8 5 3 15 4 5” which if compared to their alphabetical counterpart according to the number translates into “CRACK THE CODE”, which means 1=A, 2=B and so on.
Now for the actual Cipher Quests, a bit of complexity has been added by offsetting the actual number by the digits 0.3.1.0.2.0.2.3, a code shared by Fortnite itself prior to the event to subtract from the code provided for the quests and then convert the answer to their alphabetical counterparts. For example, when 1.17.23.9.14. 19.19.24.1.21.6 is subtracted using the code provided earlier, it will look similar to the following:
- 1-0=1 which equals A
- 17-3=14 which equals N
- 23-1=22 which equals V
- 9-0=9 which equals I
- 14-2=12 which equals L
- 19-0=19 which equals S
- 19-2=17 which equals Q
- 24-3=21 which equals U
The given code 0.3.1.0.2.0.2.3 will go on running in a loop every time one runs out of numbers, so:
- 1-0=1 which equals to A
- 21-3=18 which equals to R
- 6-1=5 which equals to E
So in the end we are left with Anvil Square, which means the players will need to head to the east of Anvil Square, where they will find a garage workshop within which there would be a locker next to a rack of tires.
This locker will have the access to a hidden bunker which will have the next encrypted code written on the wall. Players will be able to go to the different locations only after the completion of the prior quest and not before that as they wouldn’t get the encryption in the game without it. The other encryptions which have been made live as of March 1 and their alphabetical counterparts are:
- 19.19.19.1.27. 1.22. 22.16.15.10.20.21. 2.17.26.12 (1) = SPRAY AT SPLITS BOWL
- 12.18.15.5.14.25. 14.4.2.22 (1) = LONELY LABS
- 19.11.2.20.22.5.20.8.4. 22.13.1.4.19 (1) = SHATTERED SLABS
Cipher Quests Rewards in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1
Players will be rewarded each time they complete a number of quests from this event from both the Unencrypted and Encrypted sections. Players will also be rewarded with an additional item by cracking a specific encrypted Cipher Quest in Faulty Splits. Apart from that the normal rewards are:
- Upon completing 7 unencrypted Cipher Quests players will receive the Keep the Peace spray
- Upon completing 15 unencrypted Cipher Quests players will receive the Order Up loading screen
- Upon completing 24 unencrypted Cipher Quests players will receive the Deciphered emoticon
- Upon completing 3 encrypted Cipher Quests players will receive the Circuitry wrap
- Upon completing the Splits Bowl encrypted Cipher Quest players will receive the Distant Roar spray
