FPL Gameweek 24 Watchlist 2021/22
The focus this week is primarily on big hitters with the announcement of a double gameweek 25 for Manchester United and the big Double gameweek 26 for other clubs. Also, we have kept an eye on the upcoming fixtures.
1. Ben Davies (Defender) – 4.5 million
Aymeric Laporte and Lucas Digne are perhaps more obvious defensive picks but the affordability of Ben Davies brings him into consideration. He can prove useful replacing any Chelsea defender that would free up the cash needed to fund premium assets like Ronaldo or Mo Salah in the coming weeks. Davies has started all but one match since the appointment of Antonio Conte in gameweek 11 where Spurs have kept 5 clean sheets in 10 games.

They rank 3rd best in that time with an average of 0.8 goals conceded per game and only Manchester City has fared better-unexpected goals conceded per game. Five of their next six opponents Southampton, Wolves, Burnley, Everton, and Leeds rank amongst the bottom 10 teams for goals scored per game this season. Besides their DGW26, Spurs have further two fixtures yet to be rescheduled against Brighton, and Arsenal.
2. Mohamed Salah (Midfielder) – 12.7 million
Egypt has advanced to the final of AFCON, they’ll now play their last match of the tournament on the 6th of February that’s just 2 days before the gameweek 24 deadline and 4 days before Leicester‘s visit to Anfield. However, Klopp has already confirmed that he expects both Salah and Mane will return to the club before the match day.

Salah is being phenomenal from the very beginning of the season, he has netted 16 goals and provided 10 assists so far. The Egyptian has an expected goals figure of 0.63 (xG) per 90 and an expected assist figure of 0.34 (xA) per 90. So, even with the uncertainty of playing in gameweek 24 and a blank gameweek 27 coming up for Liverpool, it’ll be hard to resist the urge to own Salah ahead of his home tie with Norwich and Leeds in double gameweek 26. It is needless to say, many fantasy managers will be using their triple captain chip on the Egyptian King for gameweek 26.
3. Heung-Min Son (Midfielder) – 10.6 million
After 2 weeks’ break Son is finally ready back in action. He is one of the premium options in FPL and he doing outstanding performance under Antonio Conte. In his last 6 matches, he has bagged a total of 48 FPL points with one double-digit haul. The South Korean International has direct hands in 7 goals ( 4 goals, 3 assists ) in the above-mentioned time.

Son has an expected non-penalty goals figure of 0.65 (xG) per 90 and an expected assist figure of 0.38 xA per 90 in the above-mentioned spell. The fixture looks pretty attractive for Spurs with the double game on gameweek 26. Apart from the Manchester City match their next 5 matches have a difficulty rating in the range of 2-3.
4. Cristiano Ronaldo (Forward) – 12.5 million
The confirmation of a double gameweek 25 for Manchester United means Cristiano Ronaldo could make a swift return to many teams. Despite failing to score in his last 3 outings, the 36-year-old has notched 5 goal involvements across his last eight appearances. During that period between gameweek 14 and 23, his total of 43 FPL points is level with Bruno Fernandes while David de Gea trails by just one point.

Ronaldo boasts team-leading tallies of 8 big chances 31 shots on target and 51 touches in the opposition penalty box over that spell maintaining an expected goals figure of 0.66 (xG) per 90 and expected assists figure of 0.05 (xA) per 90.
The upcoming double gameweek sees United hosting a Southampton side that has failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 6 matches. Only Newcastle, Leicester, and Leeds have conceded more than their 18 big chances in that time. Their second opponent Brighton has fared better allowing just 6 big chances in the same period but keeping only one clean sheet.
5. Odsonne Edouard (Forward) – 6.5 million
After the announcement of double gameweek 26, Crystal Palace has become one of the favorite teams to target players from. Despite winning just only one match in their last 4 gameweeks, Edouard managed to bag 30 FPL points (Average 7.5/game) including one double-digit haul. The Frenchman has scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists during that timekeeping an expected goals figure of 0.98 (xG) per 90 and an expected assist figure of 0.12 (xA) per 90.

Edouard has an average of 7.5 touches per 90 inside of the opposition’s penalty box and fired a total of 11 shots in that time. Crystal Palace has quite favorable fixture coming up with DGW26, 4 of their next 6 matches are rated as 2 on the difficulty scale. The fixture includes Norwich, Brentford, Watford, and Burnley, all of them are standing below 15 on the league table.
