Genshin Impact version 2.4, has rerun banners for a lot of characters that are highly anticipated. With primogems being so scarce in general, proper management of them is crucial. This guide gives the users a rough estimate of how many free primogems any player can obtain if they play all the contents of the Genshin Impact 2.4 update.
How to get free Primogems with Genshin Impact 2.4 update
1. Daily Commission
Each and every patch lasts for exactly 42 days, which means the total primogems obtainable in that duration is 2520 (42 days x 60) primogems. This is only in terms of Free-to-Play players, the Welkin Moon and Battle Pass ones are done later in the section.
2. Free Battlepass
The free version of the battle pass also gives 5 acquaint fates when reached max level 50.
3. Spiral Abyss
Spiral Abyss has three rotations per patch and a player can obtain a maximum of 1800 in total depending on his abyss star clear. The calculation here assumes that players can do a full star clear every rotation, resulting in a gain of 1800 primogems. Players can deduct the appropriate amount if they don’t get a full star clear.
4. Paimon’s Bargain (Stardust Exchange)
Every month the shop refreshes and players can buy a max of 5 intertwined and 5 acquaint fates.
5. Update Maintenance and Bug Compensation
After every version update, Mihoyo gives its players a total of 600 primogems. Sometimes the amount may increase due to overdue maintenance delays.
6. Test Runs (Characters)
Every time a limited banner is available, there is a test run domain to test the said featured character, and clearing it rewards a total of 20 primogems. Since version 2.4 will have 4 featured characters, the total amount will be 4 x 20 = 80 Primogems.
7. Livestream Codes
Each live stream for a version is accompanied by redeeming codes, which when claimed will give players a total of 300 primogems.
8. Sacred Sakura Tree
This version will unlock the final ten levels of Sacred Sakura Tree, which has 2 intertwined fates and 4 acquaint fates, as a level reward.
9. Enkanomiya
A new region always means places to explore, treasure chests to find, and quests to complete. No matter how small or big the region will be, doing all of the above should at least amount to 400+ primogems.
10. Hangout Events
Ninguang and Diona will get new hangout events, that should amount to 60 x 2 = 120 Primogems.
11. Upcoming New Events
There should be a total of four events according to the version 2.4 live stream, each of them should amount to 420 primogems, resulting in 1680 primogems in total.
There will be a daily login event May Fortune Find You and another event Flowing Lights and Colors. When these events are completed successfully there will be a reward of 13 intertwined fates.
12. Achievements
Achievements vary from one update to another, but there should be at least 250+ Primogems obtainable from this update.
13. Hoyolab App-Daily Check-in
There are certain days where there is the reward of 20 primogems, in the span of total update duration, there will be 4 occurrences of it. So for 42 days, players can get 80 Primogems.

Running the Math for F2P Players
As per our calculations, the following sums up the chances for F2P Players.
For a free-to-play player
- Normal Primogems = 7830
- Intertwined Fates = 20
- Acquaint Fates = 14
Total = 7830 Primogems + 20 Intertwined Fates + 14 Acquaint Fates
These Fates in turn result in more Primogems leading to:
- 20 fates + 14 fates = 34 x160 Primogems = 5440
- Total 7830 + 5440 = 13270 Primogems
Therefore as a free-to-play player, you can actually get 13270 Primogems for free
For Welkin Moon player
- Adding extra 90 Primogems each day, which is 42 x 90 = 3780 primogems.
So in Total = 11610 + 20 Intertwined Fates + 14 Acquaint Fates.
For Battle Pass + Welkin Moon player
- Battle pass gives4 Intertwined Fates + 680 Primogems, so adding them all
Total = 12290 + 24 Intertwined Fates + 14 Acquaint Fates.
This is just an estimated calculation and should only be taken as a reference, actual primogems income can vary a lot with this estimated amount.
