Genshin Impact's Hydro Archon Furina and her abilities explained!

Genshin Impact Version 4.2 debuts Fontaine‘s Hydro Archon, “Endless Solo of Solitude” Furina (hydro/sword). This guide will provide a detailed breakdown of how her abilities work and how to play Furina in a team in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact Furina Guide: Abilities description

Talent upgrade priority

Elemental Burst = Elemental Skill. Normal Attack is useless.

Normal attack: Soloist’s Solicitation

Normal Attack

Performs up to 4 consecutive strikes.

Charged Attack

Elemental Skill: Salon Solitaire

Invites the guests of the Salon Solitaire to come forth and abet in Furina’s performance. Will summon either the Salon Members or the Singer of Many Waters based on Furina’s current Arkhe alignment.

Ousia

Foaming bubbles like celebrants shall dance, dealing AoE Hydro DMG based on Furina’s Max HP and summoning 3 Salon Members: the Ball Octopus-shaped Gentilhomme Usher, the Bubbly Seahorse-shaped Surintendante Chevalmarin, and the Armored Crab-shaped Mademoiselle Crabaletta.
They will attack nearby opponents at intervals, prioritizing the target of the active character, dealing with Hydro DMG based on Max HP.

When they attack, if character(s) with more than 50% HP are nearby, the Members will increase their current attack’s power based on the number of such characters, and consume said characters’ HP. If the characters who meet these requirements are 1/2/3/4 (or more), the Members’ attacks will deal 110%/120%/130%/140% of their original DMG.

Pneuma

Summons the Singer of Many Waters, who will heal nearby active character(s) based on Max HP at intervals. The Salon Members and Singer of Many Waters share a duration, and when Furina uses her Charged Attack to change the guest type, the new guests will inherit the initial duration. While the Salon Members and the Singer of Many Waters are on the field, Furina can move on the water’s surface.

Elemental Burst: Let the People Rejoice

Rouses the impulse to revel, creating a stage of foam that will deal AoE Hydro DMG based on Furina’s Max HP and cause nearby party members to enter the Universal Revelry state: During this time, when nearby party members’ HP increases or decreases, 1 Fanfare point will be granted to Furina for each percentage point of their Max HP by which their HP changes.

At the same time, Furina will increase the DMG dealt by an Incoming Healing Bonus for all nearby party members based on the amount of Fanfare she has. When the duration ends, Furina’s Fanfare points will be cleared.

Ascension 1 passive: Endless Waltz

When the active character in your party receives healing, if the source of the healing is not Furina herself and the healing overflows, then Furina will heal a nearby party member for 2% of their Max HP once every 2s within the next 4s.

Ascension 4 passive: Unheard Confession

Every 1,000 points of Furina’s Max HP can buff the different Arkhe-aligned Salon Solitaire in the following ways:

  • Will increase Salon Member DMG dealt by 0.7%, up to a maximum of 28%.
  • Will decrease the active character healing interval of the Singer of Many Waters by 0.4%, up to a maximum of 16%.

Utility passive: The Sea Is My Stage

Xenochromatic Fontemer Aberrant ability CD decreased by 30%.

Genshin Impact Furina Guide: Abilities explained

Normal attack: Soloist’s Solicitation

Furina’s Normal Attack talent is mostly useless. The charged attack changes her Arkhe alignment. She starts with Ousia by default, but it can be changed to Pneuma and back to Ousia again. This can change the summons from her skill in real time.

Elemental Skill: Salon Solitaire

Furina’s Elemental Skill is the second most important part of her kit and it entirely scales off of her max HP. The summons has a 30s duration with a 20s cooldown, ensuring 100% uptime.

When her Arkhe alignment is Ousia (this is the default), she summons three animals, an octopus, a seahorse, and a crab. They will follow the enemies and attack them on their own. They each have their own attack speed/range/AOE.

  • The octopus has the shortest range and medium attack speed.
  • The seahorse has a medium range and the fastest attack speed.
  • The crab has the longest range and the slowest attack speed.

All three of them will teleport to the nearest enemy on their own. When the summons attacks enemies, they drain HP from all party members. The HP drain stops when party members reach 50% HP. The number of party members with HP above 50% will buff the summon’s DMG by 10%, up to 40%. The goal is to keep party members’ HP above 50% at all times.

When her Arkhe alignment is Pneuma, she summons an Oceanid which heals the active party member. This healing is pretty decent but it does no DMG nor does it apply Hydro. This should not be used in battle since you would be losing out on DMG.

Elemental Burst: Let the People Rejoice

Furina’s Elemental Burst is the most important part of her kit and it also entirely scales off of her max HP. After using her Burst, several things happen.

  • When party members lose or gain HP, Furina gains 1 Fanfare stack for each 1% change in HP.
  • The HP loss can be caused by Furina’s Elemental Skill or by taking DMG from enemies, or it could be the character’s own talent effect like Hu Tao/Xiao/Lyney/Neuvillete/Wriothesley, etc.
  • Each stack of Fanfare provides an unconditional DMG bonus to all party members.
  • Each stack of Fanfare also increases the incoming healing bonus for all party members.

The maximum DMG bonus obtainable at C0 is 75% at talent level 10. For comparison, the only other character that can provide an unconditional DMG bonus is Yelan, she provides up to 50% DMG bonus with her Burst at C0. A well-built Kazuha can provide an elemental DMG bonus of around 40% (the bonus is only for the Swirled element rather than unconditional).

Even at C0, Furina’s DMG buffing capability is greater than two top-tier 5* supports. At C1, her DMG bonus is 100% and at C3, it is 124%. Furina’s Burst turns any mediocre DPS into a competent one and massively increases the DMG ceiling of all top-tier DPS characters.

Ascension 1 passive: Endless Waltz

When someone other than Furina over-heals the active character, all other party members will also receive a small amount of healing. It is not the most impressive healing, but at least it prevents wastage of healing.

Ascension 4 passive: Unheard Confession

This passive increases Furina’s HP-scaling Skill DMG based on her HP. It also decreases the interval of her healing, but it is not very useful.

Utility passive: The Sea Is My Stage

This passive is only useful for underwater combat and it is the most underwhelming part of her kit.

Genshin Impact Furina Guide: Playstyle

Despite having a very complicated kit, Furina’s playstyle is incredibly simple.

  • Use Elemental Skill whenever it is available.
  • Use Elemental Burst whenever it is available.
  • Activate healing immediately after using her Burst. Preferably a party-wide burst healing like Jean or Barbara. Single target healing like Bennett/Kuki Shinobu/Kokomi/Qiqi also works but to a lesser degree. Party-wide burst healing grants maximum Fanfare stacks quickly and single-target healing builds it up slowly.

Furina can be used in just about any team that requires a Hydro application. It is that simple. The only limitation to using Furina is that a healer is an absolute must to include in the team.

Final Thoughts

Furina continues Raiden Shogun and Nahida‘s trend of Archons being incredibly overpowered and versatile support characters. Just like them, Furina is also a hybrid between sub-DPS and buffer. As a matter of fact, her buffing capability is completely off the charts compared to other characters in the roster.

That’s all for today’s Genshin Impact Furina guide, which discusses her skillset and different abilities. Let us know what you think about this guide in the comments below!
